Public Thanks Kanawha Charleston Health Board for Work During Water Crisis

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A familiar face will lead the Kanawha Charleston Board of Health.

Brenda Isaac was reelected to the post Thursday evening at the Board meeting.

In addition to Isaac's reelection board members heard a report from Dr. Rahul Gupta about his latest trip to Washington D.C..

The trip, in June, was a chance to brief the Senate Health Committee Staff members about the prescription drug problem in the country. Gupta was selected because he is a member of an organization that deals with this issue and because of West Virginia's reputation with the problem.

Members of the board were also briefed on the Chemical Safety Board's visit to Charleston to discuss the January 9th Chemical leak into the Elk River.

According to KCBOH spokesperson John Law members of the public thanked Dr. Gupta and the Board for their work during the period of water contamination and beyond. They also encouraged Dr. Gupta to continue to press for funding for long-term medical funding to monitor the impacts of the spill.
