Man Dies after Accident in Putnam County; Road Reopened

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Hurricane man is dead after a crash in Putnam County.

It all happened about 8:30a.m. near Hometown.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department said Gary Alan Massey, 36, was driving on Route 62 when he lost control of his Nissan Sentra and hit a utility pole.

Deputies said Massey was thrown from the car.

They said he later died at a CAMC Teays Valley.

Route 62 has been reopened.


PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Route 62 near Hometown in Putnam County is closed after an accident.

It happened about 8:40 a.m. Saturday.

Dispatchers say one person was thrown from the vehicle, but it's unknown how badly that person was hurt.

Nobody else was in the car and no other vehicles were involved.
