KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The debate about next year's Kanawha County school calendar was a hot topic at Thursday night's school board meeting.

Several draft calendars were created, but the choices have been narrowed down to two.

West Virginia law requires that all students must be in school for 180 days, but parents and teachers say the school year would start too early this year and affect vacation time.

The board will hear again from the public and vote next month.
