CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One of the suspects charged in connection with the murder of Kareem Hunter pleaded guilty to the crime Friday.
Deveron Patterson, 26, of Raleigh County, pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors say Patterson has agreed to help in the investigation. The state will also recommend mercy when he is sentenced on November 13.
Hunter went missing in September of last year. His body was found a month later in a shallow grave near Beckley. Police believe he was killed in Kelsey Legg's apartment in Marmet.
Legg is currently serving a prison sentence after she pleaded guilty earlier this year.
Legg pleaded guilty to being an Accessory After the Fact to Murder for her role in the crime. Police say she helped clean up the crime scene and attempted to help Patterson and Quinones hide Hunter's body.
The other suspect charged in the case, Miquel Quinones, is scheduled to go on trial October 27. He is charged with first degree murder and conspiracy.
According to a news release, Legg and Patterson are expected to testify in that trial.
