Seeing Some Humor in a Trying Situation

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- With the magnitude of the water crisis gradually letting up, some people are finding ways to have a little fun with the not-so-ideal situation the chemical leak created in the Kanawha Valley and beyond.

A small sign with a big laugh is outside of The Peanut Shoppe, located along Capitol Street in Charleston. The sign reads "Today's Special: Crude MCHM Licorice Jellybeans" -- clearly a pun related to the strong licorice-like aroma that has filled the air in Charleston since the chemical spill Thursday, Jan. 9.

While The Peanut Shoppe obviously isn't selling these chemical-coated confections, it is putting some smiles on the faces of a community that's slowly recovering.
