Semi Accident Closes One SB Lane of I-79

CLAY COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Several accidents have been reported on Interstate 79 in Clay County.

The first accident was reported about 5 a.m. near the Braxton-Clay county line.

Braxton County Sheriff's Deputies tell WSAZ.com the driver of a semi was traveling north when he says he hit black ice and lost control. The tractor trailer went into the median and then flipped on its side.

The truck driver was taken to Braxton General Hospital. His injuries were not serious.

As of 7:15 a.m., one southbound lane was closed.

The truck was hauling packages for Amazon, according to deputies.

Other accidents have been reported in Kanawha and Clay counties. One of the accidents happened between Wallback and the Big Otter exits. Drivers are urged to use caution.
