Several Honored During Charleston's Black History Month Event

The Charleston Police Department sponsored the Black History Month Ceremony Tuesday in the city hall Council Chanbers.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Prominent members of the African American community were honored at an event in Charleston.

The Charleston Police Department sponsored the Black History Month Ceremony Tuesday in the city hall Council Chanbers.

The department honored eight citizens who have dedicated their lives serving the city.

The following individuals were recognized during the event:

  • (Ret.) Cpl. David Brown, Charleston Police Department
  • (Ret.) Cpl. Robbie Creel, Charleston Police Department
  • (Ret.) Capt. Matthew Jackson, Charleston Fire Department
  • Mrs. Tracy Dorsey Chapman, US Attorney’s Office
  • Mrs. Teresa Johnson, New Covenant Community Development Corporation
  • Ms. Donna Badger, New Covenant Community Development Corporation
  • Ms. Beverly Brownlow, New Covenant Community Development Corporation
  • Mrs. Mary Gray, New Covenant Community Development Corporation

    Police Chief Brent Webster was also during Tuesday's event.
