UPDATE: Charleston Attorney Killed in Car Crash

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- We are learning more about a man killed in a car crash in South Charleston.

Charleston Mayor Danny Jones says Senior Assistant City Attorney Eugene "Gene" Webb, 36, of South Charleston, died when he was involved in an accident on MacCorkle Avenue near Riverwalk Plaza.

The accident happened at 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Webb worked in the City Attorney's office since June 2007.

Police Chief Brad Rinehart tells WSAZ.com, Webb was driving west on MacCorkle Avenue when he crossed the median and hit a tractor trailer head-on.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not seriously hurt.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man was killed in an accident in South Charleston.

The accident was reported about 11:30 p.m. Monday along MacCorkle Avenue near Riverwalk Plaza.

Police Chief Brad Rinehart tells WSAZ.com Eugene Webb, 36, of South Charleston, was driving west on MacCorkle Avenue when he crossed the median and hit a tractor trailer head-on.

Webb was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the semi was not seriously hurt.

No word on what caused the accident.

MacCorkle Avenue was closed for several hours during the investigation.
