UPDATE 7/17/12 @ 11:00 a.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Charleston Police have made an arrest in a weekend stabbing along Capitol Street.
The stabbing was reported early Saturday morning.
According to a news release, Alexander Tygankov Skeens, 23, of Charleston, was charged and arraigned on a malicious wounding charge Tuesday morning.
Police say Skeens stabbed Kenyatte Henderson eight times in the stomach and chest.
Skeens was also on parole for grand larceny at the time of this alleged crime, according to police.
At the time of the crime, Investigators said Henderson was uncooperative. He was taken to the hospital, but refused medical treatment.
Police say a man was stabbed in the face about 3 a.m. The act has raised concerns among Charleston residents about a trend of violence in that part of the city.
They say the problems happen after dark when rowdy crowds spill out from bars along the street. The trouble is enough to deter some people from going out late at night.
"I don't go out at all," Shanique Rice, Charleston resident said. "It's sad to hear about the violence that goes on. I'd rather just stay at home and enjoy my family."
Scott Hawkins works at Spyro's Parking Lot on Capitol Street and was there just moments after the crime happened. He said he saw a long trail of blood on the sidewalk and is fed up with crime on the street.
"It's escalating," Hawkins said. "It's gone from fistfights to now stabbings. What's next...a gun?"
Rice said he'd like to see more security on the street, but knows that won't solve everything.
"It's really about the people," he said. "They should understand that when you go to the bars you're supposed to respect the people in these bars. You have a good time and then you go home."
Police are still investigating the stabbing but say the victim was uncooperative. He was taken to the hospital but refused medical treatment.
Dispatchers say about 3 a.m. a man was stabbed in the face on Capitol Street.
The stabbing victim has been taken to the hospital. His name and condition have not been released.
There's no word yet about who police are searching for.
