CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man had to be taken to the hospital after he was cut in the neck.
Police say Eric Desmond was walking down Washington Street East in Charleston around 2 a.m. Friday.
He stopped to talk with Granville Smith, when he dropped his debit card.
Police say Smith picked up the debit card and when Desmond asked for it back, they got into a fight.
Desmond was cut in the neck. He had to go to the hospital to get stitches.
Smith was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.
According to Charleston Police, the suspect was attempting to rob the victim when he cut the man's neck.
It happened about 2 a.m. Friday on Washington Street East.
The suspect was arrested not long after the incident.
Police haven't released the names of the victim or suspect.
