CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Governor Tomblin’s European tour meant to attract business to West Virginia is coming to a close.

During a video teleconference Monday morning, Tomblin stated he met with representatives from eight companies that do business with West Virginia as well as 23 prospective companies.

“I tried to sell work force, the kind of training we have through Work Force West Virginia,” Tomblin said, “What we're doing with our community and technical colleges to give our workers the kind of skills that they need to be productive workers for these companies.”

The 13-day tour that ends Tuesday involved trips to Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

Tomblin said the companies were in the energy, building products, automotive, plastics and chemical industries.

Tomblin was not ready to state solid prospects for companies interested in doing business in West Virginia but said,” I can't announce them right now, but I bet I can announce them in the next few days.”
