ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A coat of fresh snow helped police catch two people who they say burglarized a home in St. Albans.
The alleged crime happened about 8:30 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Spring Street.
St. Albans Police were dispatched to the scene for a report of a daytime burglary and gunshots in the area.
Police say when they arrived a man told them he saw his neighbor's door had been forced open and he saw two men leave the house. When he went to investigate, he says one of the men turned around and fired one shot in his direction.
Police say they followed footprints in the snow to a house on Cunningham Street, on the other side of the alley.
According to a news release, a search warrant was obtained and officers found a .22-caliber pistol under a chair and they found a laptop computer, other electronics and checks belonging to the victim of the burglary.
Police say they arrested Craig A. Scott, 24, of St. Albans, and a 16-year-old. The juvenile was the one who fired the shot according to the witness. They were both charged with Daytime Burglary. The juvenile is also facing a Wanton Endangerment charge.
