UPDATE: Man Arrested in Connection with Stabbing Couple in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man has been arrested after police say he stabbed two people in downtown Charleston, Friday night.

Jarvis Mitchell, 27, is facing two counts of malicious wounding. He's accused of stabbing the couple near the Transit Mall and the Middle East Mart.

The pair then ran across the street near the Charleston Town Center and called 911.

Police say the man suffered severe cuts to the throat. The woman suffered severe cuts to the face. They are expected to be okay.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two stabbing victims are in stable condition at a local hospital.

The couple was stabbed late Friday night near the Transit Mall and the Middle East Mart in downtown Charleston.

The pair then ran across the street near the Charleston Town Center where they called 911.

Police tell WSAZ.com that they are getting conflicting reports about whether or not the couple knew the person who stabbed them.

Police have arrested one man in connection with the incident.

There was no word early Saturday morning on his name or the charges he is facing.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two people were stabbed late Friday night near Charleston Town Center, Metro 911 dispatchers say.

It happened about 11 p.m.

The condition of the victims is unknown at this time.

Charleston Police are on the scene investigating.
