Update: One of the men shot over the weekend in Charleston is improving. A nurse at CAMC says Emanuel McCarty is improving. He's been upgraded to satisfactory condition.

One is dead, one is in critical condition and several are injured after multiple shootings in Charleston Saturday morning.

Police have arrested 18 year-old Antonio Jefferies and 20 year-old Charles Moore and charged them with first degree murder in the death of Andrew Smoot. He's 20 years old. Police made the arrest around 9 Saturday morning.

Police say it all started around 3:30 a.m. outside the American Legion Club when someone shot Emmanuel McCarty and Desmond Clark. Police and witnesses say a friend of one of the victims followed the shooter to his home in the 1500 block of Washington Street East. That's when police say Smoot was shot and killed. Officers aren't saying if Smoot was involved in the shooting at the club.

Police tell us that things then moved to 1700 Kemp Avenue where Moore and Jefferies were involved in a drive-by shooting where several shots were fired. At this time, no victims have been reported from that shooting.

According to the criminal complaint, Moore and Jefferies were arrested at the corner of 6th Avenue and Stockton Street in Charleston. The complaint states Moore was wearing a bullet proof vest when he was arrested. Officers also say in the car where Moore and Jefferies were located, they found a Tec-9mm.

The criminal complaint also says Desmond Clark, Emmanuel McCarty, Charles Moore, and Antonio Jefferies were all hanging out together at the club prior to the shooting.

When did this all of the sudden turn into a "racis" deal? Its not about the color of your skin, Its about making MAJOR life choices. These men made the wrong choise, that doesn't mean get on here and Put all the African American people down because a few people made mistakes. White people are just as guilty. Its just not shown as much. Its just like the War right now, they don't show all the things that happen. Just a few highlights. people would probably be amazed at how much really is wrong with the world if they showed it all. childofgod: I am happy that you are making a beter life for yourself. I have the up-most respect for you in what you are accomplishing. May God Bless you. My heart goes out to the families involved in this. My prayers go out to the shooters. Don't look at this as what race is doing what wrong. I am not making any excuses for anyone. Just pray for the ones hurting and the ones doing the hurting. GOD BLESS!!!

What does racism have to do with this? Weren't all the people involved black? How is it white peoples fault? Why do you want to be a street thug? Sorry, but I'd rather live, than be shot down in an alley somewhere because 50 cent said it's cool to get shot and go to jail. Everybodies talking about living by the gun, but why? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If you live that life, then all the racist white people are right about you. Why don't you try going to school or church? I know Ja-Rule says it's selling out.... But do you really think all these "gangsta rappers" that you look up too AREN'T selling out? Get real, wake up... Nobodies scared of thugs anymore, it's turned into a joke. People see wannabe gangstas and laugh at you. I'll tell you what... After I finish college, and make good money in a good job and start a nice family, I'll come and visit you in prison.. I may even bring you Young Bucks new CD...

To sick and Tired: this is way off subject but i would just like to enlighten you on a few things! I am an African American female in college trying to make a better life for myself, and I have never used my race as an excuse for any of the travesties I have experienced on this long journey. But let me make it clear, if you are African American please believe that other races already have a predispositioned view of you no matter if you act a certain way or not! WE as a race do have it hard but I am not using that as an excuse,it just makes me work harder to prove the superior race otherwise! If you do not see racism against Blacks in America its because you are ignoring it, and we don't need your pity we are just trying to make you aware of this injust behavior and maybe make a change! To all the families affected by this unfortunate event I lift you up in my prayers! By all means, WE ALL as a PEOPLE have got to do better! Keep these children involved and sit down and talk 2 them!
