NEW INFO: Names Released in Industrial Parkway Crash

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Kentucky State Police have released the name of the second semi driver killed in a fiery crash on Tuesday.

The crash was reported at 12:48 a.m. Wednesday near the U.S 23 end of the highway in Greenup County.

KSP says Lenden Ferrell, 52, of Frenchburg, Ky., was the driver of the box truck that was hit head-on by a flatbed hauling junked cars.

Wesley Walker, 48, of Olive Hill, Ky., was the driver of the flatbed. He was also killed.

The Greenup County Coroner says both men died of blunt force trauma.

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- All lanes of the Industrial Parkway (State Route 67) recently reopened Wednesday night, according to information from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Highway crews have removed all barricades, and the detour is no longer in operation.

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The Industrial Parkway (State Route 67) remained closed as of 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to dispatchers with the Kentucky State Police Post in Ashland.

They say it should open later Wednesday night. Crews remained at the scene for cleanup, including oil removal from the roadway.

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Emergency crews are working to recover the body of the driver of a semi involved in a head-on crash with another semi on the Industrial Parkway (State Route 67) in Greenup County, Kentucky.

The crash was reported at 12:48 a.m. Wednesday near the U.S 23 end of the highway.

The driver of the other semi was also killed in the accident.

The Greenup County Coroner tells WSAZ.com that both bodies have been sent to Frankfort for autopsy and identification.

Kentucky State Police tell WSAZ.com it appears the deadly crash happened when a load of compacted junked cars on a flatbed tractor trailer shifted, causing that semi to overturn on its side, and into the path off an oncoming box truck.

The crash happened in a downhill curve, according to troopers.

The trucks burst into flames following the crash.

The body of the driver of the semi carrying the cars was recovered a short time after the crash. KSP says he is Wesley Walker, 48, of Olive Hill. The semi was owned by J & W Recycling of Olive Hill.

The name of the other driver has not been released.

The box truck was carrying a number of products, including soft drinks.

It will be late Wednesday afternoon before Industrial Parkway reopens.

State Route 67 (industrial Parkway) is closed at the intersection of U.S. 23. All traffic seeking access to I-64 will need to detour to State Route 1. Drivers traveling from I-64 towards Greenup to U.S. 23 will need to detour on State Route 207 to State Route 1, or State Route 207 to State Route 503.

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The Greenup County Emergency Management Office says at least one person has died in a head on crash between two semis.

The accident happened along the Industrial Parkway(State Route 67). It was reported at 12:48 a.m.

Emergency responders say the fuel cells on the semis ignited after the crash, engulfing the wreckage in flames.

Crews at the scene are still looking for a second possible victim.

It will be late this afternoon before Industrial Parkway reopens.

State Route 67 (industrial Parkway) is closed at the intersection of U.S. 23. All traffic seeking access to I-64 will need to detour to State Route 1. Drivers traveling from I-64 towards Greenup to U.S. 23 will need to detour on State Route 207 to State Route 1, or State Route 207 to State Route 503.

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A head on crash between two tractor trailers has Industrial Parkway shut down.

Fire crews tell us there were no hazardous materials on board either tractor trailer.

They could not confirm the severity of injuries, or whether there were any fatalities, although fire crews say the coroner has been called to the scene.

The Kentucky State Police Reconstruction Team is on the way to the scene to investigate exactly what happened.

Industrial Parkway is shut down between U.S. 23 and Horn Hollow. No word on when it will reopen.

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky (WSAZ) - Greenup County dispatchers confirm a multiple vehicle accident on Industrial Parkway, about a mile from Route 23.

We're told there are several tractor trailers involved and multiple injuries.
