South Charleston Police say they arrested a man from Boone County who robbed the 7-Eleven on Jefferson Road early Saturday morning.

The robbery was reported to Metro 911 at 1:19am.

Detective Joel Gray says James Levi Fowler, 23 of Julian, walked into the store and told the clerk he would "kill him if he didn't give him money" -- and then put his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun.

According to Gray, Fowler then made the clerk stand outside and away from the store until he took off in a white Nissan -- with someone else driving.

A little later, Gray says a Boone County Sheriff's Deputy was driving through South Charleston, saw the police cruisers parked at the store on Jefferson Road, and stopped to see what happened. South Charleston detectives told him about the crime, and gave him the suspects' descriptions.

According to Gray, that same deputy was in Boone County later in the morning and spotted a white Nissan parked on the side of the road. When he stopped to check on the car, he noticed the two men sitting in the car matched the descriptions of the men involved in the robbery -- and were even wearing the same clothes. They told the deputy they ran out of gas and were coming from South Charleston.

South Charleston Police then obtained a warrant for Fowler and arrested him at his home in Boone County. He's charged with armed robbery and was taken to the South Central Regional Jail.

Detectives tell WSAZ that Fowler claims he was on drugs at the time of the robbery. We're also told that he got away with less than $100.

Gray says charges are still pending against the driver of the car.

Why are the charges still pending against the driver? They should have areested him already. Why can't people get jobs instead of taking what is not theirs?

When the police arrested JamesLevi Fowler, for armed robbery why didn't the police state who the driver of the white vehicle was, and why was his name not put on the police report since he was a obvious get-away-driver and just as guilty. Let me know who that driver was and where does he live.... Thank you Elizabeth Weaver

Is this dude related to the Duct Tape Bandit???? Looks like he didn't pay attention to the lesson in Robbery 101 that states: "When using getaway car to commit a crime, always ensure vehicles has a sufficient fuel supply before driving away from the crime scene."
