Dealing with Unimaginable Grief

CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- An Ashland woman has been indicted on second-degree manslaughter in connection with a traffic crash that killed another Ashland woman.
A Boyd County Grand Jury indicted Jami Simms, 28, on Monday.
The fatal accident happened on August 21 along Midland Trail in Summit.
Lisa Walker, 28, was killed.
Commonwealth Attorney David justice says Simms was traveling south in a Jeep Cherokee when she crossed the center line and hit Walker’s car head-on.
Walker’s husband was in the car and was slightly injured.
Justice says investigators found three different drugs in Simms' system.

The accident happened on Midland Trail, about one mile South of US Highway 60, in Boyd County, on Sunday.
According to a press release, Jami Simms, 21, of Ashland, was traveling south and hit a vehicle being driven by Lisa Walker, 29, of Russell.
Walker was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police say she wasn't wearing a seat belt.
Zachary Walker, 31, of Russell, was a passenger in Lisa Walker's vehicle. He and Simms were transported to King's Daughters Medical Center. They have since been released from the hospital.
KSP has not determined if Zachary Walker or Jami Simms were wearing their seat belts.
Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash.
Kentucky State Police Accident Reconstruction Team was on the scene Thursday to reconstruct the accident to determine a cause.
No charges have been filed in the case.
Lisa Walker, 28, died Sunday in a head-on crash on Midland Trail in Summit, Ky. Zach was in the car with Lisa when the accident happened about 6 p.m.
Despite the obvious heartache he's feeling, Zach says he feels fortunate to have held his wife in his arms -- and heard her say the most wonderful words as she slipped away at the scene of the crash.
Zach was just slightly injured, but he's dealing with the gripping pain of a broken heart -- not just for himself, but Lisa's two daughters and a son from a previous marriage.
Lisa's funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday.
There's no information available on the other driver's name, condition and potential charges.
Kentucky State Police say they're investigating the accident -- recreating the wreck and awaiting various reports.

Sgt. Bryan Powell tells WSAZ.com Lisa Walker was killed in the crash.
Powell says another driver crossed into Walker's lane, hitting her car head-on.
The name of the other driver is not being released at this time. Other details also were unavailable.
No charges have been filed.
