It's a tangled web of arson, firefighter arrests and family connections.
It all centers around a house fire in mason, West Virginia.
“It’s very frightening,” said Charlotte Yonker.
Charlotte is talking about three Mason County volunteer firefighters that have been arrested--charged with arson.
Kim Blake with the Mason Department is one of those three -- and that's what raises a red flag for Charlotte and her grandson Chris Yonker.
“That's their drug. They set fires so they can put them out,” said Chris.
Chris has firsthand experience. About ten years ago, he was charged with arson for setting a fire here at a Mason lumberyard. But, he claims C.R. Blake, Kim's brother, also a volunteer firefighter with Mason and another firefighter, put him up to it.
“They gave me the flare from the fire department and told me where to go,” said Chris.
In that case -- Chris, C.R. Blake and another individual were charged with arson.
But while Chris' felony charges stuck, CR's were dropped.
“I accept responsibility for what I did and paid the price, but they should pay the price too,” said Chris.
To further tangle this web, siblings Kim and C.R. are also both 911 dispatchers for Mason County. Their boss--their dad, Chuck Blake, the Mason County 911 Director.
“I have no comment. My attorney advised me not to say anything due to my personal connecton,” said Chuck.
So, this investigation continues in the midst of a firestorm of questions.
At first -- Mason County 911 told us Kim Blake would continue working there as a dispatcher while her court case goes through the system.
Then, late this afternoon they called to tell us that she is now on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of this investigation.
Jamar Cuthberson, with the New Haven volunteer department, is also charged with arson accused of torching a Mason County outbuilding.
