14-Year-Old Charged after Gun Threat Made at School
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A 14-year-old has been charged after police say he made a threat to bring a gun to school.
Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware tells WSAZ.com that the teen made the threat three weeks ago, but it was just brought to their attention Tuesday.
He says the juvenile prosecutor has charged the Portsmouth High School student with menacing.
Ware tells WSAZ.com that he believes the teen has been expelled from school.
The chief says the school was never put on lockdown and all the necessary precautions have been taken to keep the students and staff safe.
Ware also says there will be an increased police presence, as well as the resource officer who is already at the school.
The Chief asks that if you ever hear of a threat being made to please let someone know immediately so they it can be handled in a timely manner.
