UPDATE 3/22/12 @ 12:05 p.m.
CALHOUN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The parents of a child who died after suffering trauma to the head have been indicted on murder charges.

Ashley Kreh and Ordie Rogers were both indicted on a second degree murder charge on Thursday in Calhoun County.

Their daughter, Darlene Rogers died in February. She was three months old when she died.

According to a criminal complaint, Kreh admitted to police she had been frustrated around Valentine's Day causing her to hit the baby's head on the crib.

The child began to show signs of trauma, but wasn't taken to the hospital until days later.

Kreh was also indicted on child abuse resulting in death. Rogers was indicted on child neglect resulting in death.

A trial has not been set yet.

UPDATE 2/23/11 @ 6:40 p.m.
CALHOUN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The horrific death of a nearly three month old baby girl left a family shaken and a Calhoun County community disappointed.

Nearly three-month old Darlene Rogers died Sunday in a Morgantown hospital after suffering trauma to her head.

Wednesday her parents were arrested after police said they caused Darlene's death.

"This has been one of the most disturbing cases I've ever been a part of as an attorney," Calhoun County Prosecutor Rocky Holmes said.

According to a criminal complaint Darlene's mother, Ashley Kreh, was frustrated around Valentine’s Day when she hit her daughter's head on the edge of her crib. She didn't seek help afterward for fear of getting in trouble.

A community member, who wanted to stay anonymous, spoke with WSAZ.com

"I’ve known the father of the baby for quite some time. He didn't strike me as the type of person that would let something like this go on. He really seemed to love those kids. And she did too,” the woman said.

The woman had even met little Darlene.

“She had dark hair and dark complected. She was the most beautiful baby you ever did want to see for a little girl," the woman said.

Ordie Rogers, the child's father, was arrested for neglecting to do anything to care for his baby girl.

It's an issue community members and county leaders don't take lightly.

"I intend to show the mother tortured this child to death and in her greatest hour of need her father neglected to do anything," Prosecutor Holmes said.

Ashley Kreh's grandfather told WSAZ.com funeral arrangements for baby Darlene were being made Thursday afternoon. He also released a statement saying, “I’m so sorry,” about her granddaughter’s death.

Both parents did decline to speak from Jail Thursday.

CALHOUN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A mother and father from Calhoun County face charges in connection with their baby's death.

Darlene Marie Rogers, 3-months-old, of Mount Zion, died at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown on February 17.

Darlene's parents Ashley Kreh, 21, and Ordie J. Rogers, 30, have both been arrested and charged in her death.

West Virginia State Police say they were called to Roane General Hospital when Darlene was brought there with life threatening injuries. She was later transported to Ruby Memorial for further treatment -- but later died.

According to a news release, the Medical Examiner's Office determined her cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Kreh has been charged with death of a child by parent by child abuse. Rogers was charged with child neglect resulting in the death of a child. They were arrested on February 22.

Kreh's bond was set at $750,000. Rogers is in jail in lieu of $300,000 bail.

The West Virginia State Police has scheduled a news conference at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

We will have a crew at the news conference. Keep clicking on WSAZ.com for the latest information.
