PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- An inmate who was just a few months into his sentence decided to make a break for it.
Kentucky State Police in Pikeville say 32-year-old James Adams is still on the run.
Troopers say Adams was taking part in a supervised work release program through the Pike County Detention Center.
He escaped about noon Tuesday from the Mossey Bottom area of Pike County.
Adams was working with eight other inmates, cleaning up the area and cutting down trees when he was sent to get supplies from a truck. He never came back.
"He left the group. He was away for about 15 minutes and upon trying to look for this person they were unable to locate him," Trooper Michael Webb said.
Adams has short, brown hair and brown eyes. He's is 6-feet tall and weighs about 195 pounds. He also has tattoos on both arms.
Adams had served just three months of a two-year sentence for receiving stolen property.
