Some miners in southern West Virginia are looking for a new place to do their grocery shopping.
About 50 miners and their families turned in their Kroger cards to the store in Danville Wednesday.
They say they are not going to shop at the grocery store because the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition has received money from the Kroger cares charity program. The miners says since that group opposes mountaintop removal coal mining, OVEC is putting their jobs in jeopardy.
“Our money goes to the store and someone who doesn't like us is benefiting from the money that we spend here and we don’t like that so were not going to spend any money here," mine worker Roger Horton said.
A spokesperson for Kroger says they allow customers to choose which organizations they support through various donation programs and do not influence their customers' decisions.

It might not be your cup of tea but I'll bet you sure like to shop at the shopping centers that they destroy the earth for hum and the nice roads that they cut the mountains out for.
Dear proud, maybe the rest of us wouldn't do a miner's job because we actually put some values higher than money. Destroying the earth isn't my cup of tea.
Thats the spirit! Only look at your short term wages and care nothing about how much you are harming the earth. Who cares you are not going to be here to suffer the consequences of mountain top removal, it will be your kids and grandkids. Think about that.
