Two men from Pikeville have pleaded guilty to numerous catalytic converter thefts.

Chris Parsons and David Parsons were arrested back in October after a Pikeville Police Officer spotted a suspicious car in the parking lot of the Pikeville Medical Center. Inside the car officers found five catalytic converters and tools to remove the converters.

Police believe the men are responsible for a series of catalytic converter thefts in Pike and Floyd Counties.

Prosecutors told a local paper that there have been no reported thefts in Pikeville since the men were arrested.

According to the paper, both men were charged with being persistent felony offenders. David Parson will have to serve a minimum of 10 years before he is eligible for parole. Chris Parson will have to serve at last 20 percent of his sentence.

Have you ever noticed how simple a solution is for a problem whenever the citizen gets involved? The posted comments have answers and solutions. Why is it then, that whenever the law-makers, judges, and attorneys get involved everything becomes so confused and complicated? Appears these people don't want solutions to the crime problem

Make the metal dealers verify ID of persons selling items and establish ownership of same. Then charge them with recieving stolen property if they [dealers] fail to follow procedure.Charge a couple dealers and watch how fast theft of metal stops.
