This morning WSAZ confirmed that presidential candidate, Barack Obama will soon open up a campaign office in Portsmouth, Ohio.

A senior staffer with Governor Ted Strickland's office tells WSAZ that members of the secret service are in town. They are scouting out a site at Ohio University in Athens for a Barack Obama campaign visit. This visit is expected to happen in the next 4 or 5 days.

michelle, you keep pontificating false rhetoric. You've been proven wrong time and time again. Do you just post and never read the responses? The Pledge of Allegiance rumor has been proven a lie, it was the National Anthem. You don't cross you heart to the Nat'l Anthem. He's not Muslim. Muslim's pray 6 times a day. Quite difficult to do on the campaign trail. Also, he eats pork. He loves bbq ribs. What good muslim would eat pork? Lastly, type in "cnn" and "muslim" and "obama" in a search engine. Read cnn's total debunking of your rumors and post a retraction. What YOU are doing is unethical and dangerous. Please don't spread lies and then talk about the Bible. You seem to be a deceiver. The Bible speaks of that too.

I just want to say to all who support Obama as president that, even though he is your choice, I am NOT in favor of him. First off, he turns his back to our flag and the pledge of allegiance. Do you all really want a president who does that?? Second, he is MUSLIM and muslims really hate the USA. If he gets president, our country is going to be in a worse shape than it already is. I believe in the Bible and all the things that the Bible predicts and time before the End is already happening. So vote for Obama if you want to. That is your choice but I seriously think everyone who does vote for him is going to regret it. These times are scary and the thought that scares me the most and wakes me up in the middle of the night is the fact that Obama is in the presidential race. I am currently praying, and hoping, Obama doesn't win the election. Instead of being swooned by Obama's lies, we need to BE ON OUR KNEES AND PRAYING FOR OUR COUNTRY!!

Jon, Please don't call people co-crazies. Remember, at one time your spiritual eyes were blind and your spiritual ears were deaf, just as theirs are. Christ died for them and loves them as much as He loves you. Pray for them instead of ridiculing them. Diane, you are absolutely correct . Surely our Heavenly Father's heart is grieving for these little ones.

Posted by: Diane on Mar 1, 2008 at 04:02 PM
One or more of you have used the ridiculous excuse that those who oppose murdering children in the womb must then raise the "unwanted" babies. There are over 13,000 waiting for babies in the Catholic Charities roster in any given year who can't have children and want those babies. If any of you have the courage go on Right to Lifes Website and see what an eight week old fetus looks like and then tell me you're into drowning puppies as well. God help us Both Clinton and Obama lie when they say they are "in Christ". To truly be "in Christ" you must agree with Him and live as He lived...the Spirit supplying the power. Otherwise don't lie and claim the name for political gain. Psalm 139 ...makes it clear what God thinks of the child in the womb. He provides...perhaps that's why infertility is up...check the facts

Posted by: Jon on Feb 29, 2008 at 04:30 PM
It's ok when the rapture comes you and your co-crazies can watch as your friends, family, and I ascend to heaven.

Posted by: Jackie on Feb 28, 2008 at 10:04 AM
Drake, I was referring to the Bible. I guess I should have capitalized it, but I thought you would get it. By the way, aren't you the one who recommended some other readings/authors to me?

Posted by: Drake on Feb 27, 2008 at 04:54 PM
Jackie, maybe you should read the Bible and not the backs of books. You might find out that these inspired preachers are reading something that isn't there.

Posted by: Jackie on Feb 27, 2008 at 02:31 PM
It's OK, Drake! I've read the back of the book. We win!

Posted by: Drake on Feb 27, 2008 at 10:01 AM
"But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovreign Lord who bought them-bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping." (2 Peter 2:1-3)

Posted by: Jackie on Feb 27, 2008 at 09:34 AM
What's YOUR point? I didn't claim anything about the Rapture! I only said that the tribulation is well-documented in Daniel. You added to my comment, jumping to the conclusion that I was referring to the Rapture. However, since you brought it up, there is Biblical support for pre-tribulation Rapture. The Church is not mentioned in any scripture referring to tribulation. Check Romans 5:9, I Thessalonians 5:9, and Revelation 3:10. The people who taught me about the tribulation are my pastor, my Sunday school teacher, and a local expert on prophecy and end times. None of these men receive a dime for their study and sharing. Thanks for the sparring; it's been fun.

Posted by: Drake on Feb 26, 2008 at 11:10 PM
Jackie, what's your point? You claim that the pre-trib rapture is a biblical teaching. You will find no evidence that that is so. Only preachers asking for money to save souls before the big one.

Posted by: Jackie on Feb 26, 2008 at 07:21 PM
The early Christians didn't believe in electricity, jet streams, or atoms, either.

Posted by: Drake on Feb 22, 2008 at 10:38 PM
Jackie, the early Christian church never believed that. This idea began in the 1830s by Edward Irving. He also was a member of the early Pentecostal church movement. This is well-documented. These bible scholars are also in the business of making money. Like the Left Behind series of books and movies. Please include sources of some of these scholars. I'm sure they are all about making a buck through fear.

Posted by: Altheast on Feb 22, 2008 at 09:23 PM
Jackie, check out a book called "The Rapture Plot" by Dave MacPherson. A majority of prophecy writers and speakers teach that the church will be raptured before a future tribulational period. But did you know that prior to about 1830 no such doctrine existed? No one in all of church history ever taught pretribulational rapture. Dave MacPherson has been responsible for major change in the eschatology of evangelical churches by his devestating studies of some of the central aspects thereof. In The Rapture Plot, Macpherson tells us of the strange tale of 'rapture' writings, revisions, cover-ups, alterations, and confusions. No one has equaled MacPherson in his research on the 'pretrib rapture.' Attempts to discredit his work have failed. Also, you might want to look up the name Edward Irving, the inventor of the rapture theory who also was kicked out of his church because they thought he was demon possessed in the 1830s. It's okay to be ignorant, but a blessing to search for truth.

Posted by: Jackie on Feb 22, 2008 at 12:39 PM
Altheast, It is accepted by renowned Bible scholars that the tribulation is well-documented in the Old Testament, in the Book of Daniel.

How old is John McCain? I have a grandmother his age, and I don't trust her to drive, let alone run a country. I would rather have my president(Barack Obama)not wearing Depends.....

Well, if everyone wants Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Oprah to run the country, then vote for Obama.

Posted by: WWIIVet on Feb 19, 2008 at 05:55 PM
Something else. If you Clinton fans didn't know, Bill's biological dad's last name was Blythe. Bill was known as "Billy Blythe" in school until his mom married his adopted dad, Roger Clinton, and Bill took his last name. Roger Clinton was married 4 times, with Bill's mom being the 4th. She didn't find this out until the year 2000. This might explain Bill's womanizing ways; it's in his genes. The point I'm trying to make is that the surname Blythe is also German. Hillary is very cold and calculating and probably chose to marry Bill so that she could become famous and they could one day get revenge on America for defeating Germany in the war. I've been in the trenches and fought hand to hand against these types. Luckily I came away with my life, but I don't want to just hand my country over to some secret German sympathizers. Do research on your own if you don't believe me. Germany tried to take over the world once, don't let them try again.

Posted by: Rose Schafer on Feb 19, 2008 at 05:41 PM
Wow. I didn't believe the posts below until I did some research. Hillary's grandfather was German and is rumored to have been Hitler's gardener. I don't want someone to be President whose grandpa used to give petunias to Hitler. Give him a punch in the jaw, not flowers. Would Hillary give Osama a kiss on the cheek if we captured him and pardon him? Anything is possible from a Rodham. (Her favorite food is sauerkraut).

Melinda, I'm with you. We should have troops surrounding the country and when they hop the fence they should open fire. We can use their carcasses a fertilizer since Americans should be the only humans we are concerned with. They all eat beans and speak Mexican. Mexican food gives me the runs. We beat them in the Mexican War, let's not let them have a chance to do it again. Remember the Alamo! Wooooo!

All I can say is "personal responsibility". If people would take responsibility for their own actions we wouldn't be having this conversation. It amazes me how someone can support even giving someone a right to kill an unborn child. I am not talking about the unfortunate medical abortions that must be performed to save lives. I am talking about a choice to end a life because it is inconvenient to be a parent. As far as the commnet made about me taking in the unwanted children, I would if I could. The sad fact is that my tax dollars are probably paying for those chldren through our welfare program. In this day and age there is no excuse for ignorance! If you don't want a child do somthing to prevent the pregnancy. Killing an unborn child is not an answer! Lots of things are illegally done in alleys that doesn't mean we should make laws on the books making them legal. God Bless the innocent children.

Posted by: Melinda on Feb 19, 2008 at 05:03 PM
Obama or Clinton will be bad for this country..They want to let all 12 million illegal aliens become American citizens even though they jumped the wall to get here..It's like they are taking over our country one fence jump at a time..Could you imagine our next election and the president hopefuls will have to promise the new American/Hispanics all these things to get their vote..It will change the future of our country..It's funny, I don't remember any Mexicans fighting with us in our wars years ago so we can be free..We had to fight for our freedom, not jump a fence and bam it's a done deal..They work for cheap labor now but once they are citizens they will expect the same pay as everyone else and they will be fighting for our jobs because then they will be Americans..If we set back and let that happen we are just giving up what our ancestors have fought so hard for..Call me racist if you want, but I'm half Indian and half who knows what but I want to keep my country called America!!

Posted by: Shazaam on Feb 19, 2008 at 03:10 PM
Pam, if you "researched" you would know that a person cannot be elected President if they were born outside the country. As for his "Muslim background" he can't help who his mom chooses to marry. The number of the beast is 666. Revelation 13:18 -"Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." Pam would be one that does not have "understanding."

Posted by: Pam on Feb 19, 2008 at 12:30 PM
Well I dont know why people are worried abt who they are gonna vote for, we dont elect the president. I have carefully reviewed the canidates none is perfect, research and look for the truth. I dont judge people on race or religion but why put some one with a muslim background ,not born in america in to a high power as president? As for him being anti christ no.That 6-6-6 name thing was a Nostradamus prediction not a BIBLE PROPHECY. If you see tapes of the senate meetings and ask people whos been in there . research the church doctrine he belongs to,its amazing, in the ends times it says " many false teachings will take root many hearts will be blinded to the truth" if they are not corrupt when they go in the office they are as soon as they are sworn in.People has a way of twisting the truth for their own gain, and they use us to get it. Research before Judging.

Posted by: Ed on Feb 19, 2008 at 10:51 AM
Proud Rep., Obama doesn't promote abortion, but he does think its a woman's right to get one if she wants. If you would like to raise all the unwanted children maybe you should petition the government to do so. I don't like it and I wouldn't recommend getting one, but I don't feel that I can push my beliefs on others either. It's legal to do so. People abhor drugs because they are illegal and people are breaking the law. In this case the law is not being broken. Prior to the legalization of abortion women were having them done in a back alley somewhere. The child and mother both died then. People have to live with the choices they make. Their guilt will catch up to them. Our President should support the laws we have on the books. When Congress changes the law so to will the opinions of the politicians.

Joe, Muslims are angry that we first put troops on their land, their "holy" land. This has led to their hatred of us. This was done during the Cold War against the USSR.

Obama studied Muslim in Indonesia at a young age. His father was an atheist, his mother did not practice any religion. His mother married another man after his father and Obama's stepfather moved the family to Indonesia and that is where Obama studied Muslim. Once a muslim, always a muslim. Read people, read!!!! Being a democrat all my life, I guess my only choice this election is to vote for John McCain if Hiliary doesn't make it.

Jamie take a look at everything he's done for his state of illinois and, for this country. he has outdone himself and overachieved what anyone gave him the credit to do. his whole professional political life he's been proving himself, and doing it very well. I still am not sure who im voting for, hill or obama- im just trying to shed some light on some seriously ignorant beliefs that simply are not true about obama. as far as his beliefs go- i am an atheist, but that doesnt mean I just flat out dont care about anything in the world that goes on. he's had the same bel;iefs through his entire career and has still risen to where he is today through accomplishments. he isnt the front running democrat for no reason- he gets results, and he gets things done. bottom line. and after Bush, im fairly certain my opinion of any republican candidate is forever tarnished. Go Dems!

Posted by: JC on Feb 18, 2008 at 05:39 PM
Obama's church merely focuses on the African American community by giving them scholarships and career opportunities not afforded to them. When you are born black in the U.S. you already have one strike against you. This can be seen by the comments of some here.

Posted by: Altheast on Feb 18, 2008 at 05:32 PM
Jon, since you know so much about the antichrist did you know that the entire idea of the tribulation did not begin until the 19th Century. The early Christians never believed in such inventive storytelling. Numbers in Hebrew correlate to letters. The letters 666 stood for Nero. Antichrist means "against Christ." The romans were against the Christian movement. Maybe study history along with the bible and listening to preachers who don't know what they are talking about. Research is easy. It can disprove many of the myths some of you are following as gospel.

I heard that Hillary was sworn in on the Satanic Bible. With that and her German connections I cannot fathom why someone would vote for her. You know why they call it pms, cause mad cow was already taken. A woman in office is scary, especially German ones.

Posted by: Rickwell on Feb 18, 2008 at 05:15 PM
Jon, Obama says the Pledge of Allegiance and often led the Senate in the pledge. He also sings the national anthem, he just doesn't put his hand over his heart when he sings it. By the way, you aren't supposed to put your hand over your heart when you sing the national anthem. That's reserved for the pledge.

Posted by: Jamie on Feb 18, 2008 at 04:49 PM
Just Google Trintity United Church of Christ, and see what Obama believes in. Scary, people. Talk about radical sites. It seems that their whole focus is their "non-negotiable commitment to Africa"--what about the U.S.A.? We need to be taking care of our homeland, and I don't think he was born in Africa, right? The whole site makes it sound like you have to be black to be a part of his belief system and his church. That's not a good idea for anyone. Color should not come into anything, yet they have chosen to make it such a big deal in their overall outlook. His church has even adopted "The Black Value System". I am black, and I am a Christian, but I would never feel comfortable in a church that doesn't welcome people of every color. What a radical thought process. He seems to be the only one bringing color and race into the picture. Yes, I am a female black Democrat, but I will NOT vote for Obama.

Posted by: Moose on Feb 18, 2008 at 04:13 PM
Jon, you are either purposefully lying, or you are just plain ignorant. Which is it? Obama is not the one who was sworn in on the Koran. That was Keith Ellison, a representative from Minnesota. It was a Koran once owned by Thomas Jefferson. I'm not an Obama fan, but my objection to him is based on his stated policies, not on what his name sounds like and certainly not lies being spread by racists like some of the ones who have posted here. I certainly hope nobody makes up their mind about this election based on some of this nonsense.

He is a good speech maker but if that was the only point of elect ability then any con-man could be elected. Look and listen strongly on his policies, record, experiences, and how he plans to get the job done. So far I have only heard theories of how he plans to carry out his office. I have also have listened to his comments on the war decision how he was against it from day one well yes would you support a resolution for war against what could possibly be you fathers country? As a matter of fact the only bad part of that resolution was George W Bush and his private agenda to go after Saddam with any means necessary even lying to the American people with false reports to gain support. Find out why he didn't vote yes or no in Illinois but present this shows me he is un-decisive in his actions and would weaken this country beyond repair. I have been a hard line democrat all my life but if Barack is the nominee I'll vote for McCain.

Joe I think he would be just as slow to defend against muslims as he would be to defend against Americans that perform terroristic acts against their own country. it will not be tolerated. and id be frightened at anyone who would pull the trigger 'the quickest' since we all are experiencing what happens when you shoot first and ask questions later by the war we are in RIGHT NOW.

The man is SCARY-- The fact that he thinks he can run a country with his total lack of experience is even scarier. I (like many of my fellow Dems) will jump ship and vote Republican if that man gets the nomination. Hmmmm... maybe that will indeed be a slam-dunk for McCain. Hey, everyone for Obama is just assuring 4 more years of Republican rule, since many of the Democrats for Hillary will NEVER swing to support him. Michele, he has never been a Muslim nor was he raised that way. I proved this in another comments page about Obama winning the Grammy. This has been heavily researched and proven wrong. His stepdad was a Muslim, his mother was an atheist. He became a Christian in the 1980s and has never strayed from that path. If he's planning on taking over our country to hand it to Muslim's he's a very good actor.

Posted by: Michele on Feb 17, 2008 at 11:35 PM
Its not that anyone cares what color skin he has, its the fact that he is a Muslim, no matter if he was raised that way for a year or for twenty years, he is still a part of the people who destroyed many people on 9-11..I fear that he is saying all the right things to get as many votes for President, and then change for the worse. I fear for our country, and we all should....

I too felt the same way/fear before I knew about Obama. truth is, his white mother was impregnated by his Kenyan father and then he left. his father had nothing to do with him or his upbringings, and he has been raised in the same christian beliefs his entire life. he has endured all of the stereotyping and scrutiny thruought the years similar to what he is receiving here from you people, and has made a fantastic career of providing nothing but progress and proving those wrong that feel this way about him. and again, I too felt this way before I knew anything about him. after watching several debates and rallies I believe in him. so before you jump the gun, research and find out more. I too fell victim to assumptions about him, and you know what they say about assuming.

It is this type of insensitivity to cultures different from our own that has led to West Virginian individuals being stigmatized as intolerant and ignorant. It takes a wise person to step back, listen to others, and truly understand what and where they are coming from. Just because an individual is Muslim and has Hussein in his name does not signify anything--nor will it! It is this type of intolerance you are perputating that will lead to more violence and suffering. I must overlook these comments because ignorance cannot be helped, but stupidity can be. Reread your souces, broaden your thinking, and try to understand where individuals are coming from. By doing this, you will set your mind free.

Hillary's maiden name is Rodham. It's German. What did the Germans do? Just kill 6 million Jews, that's all. I would never vote for a German.

And they said about the Catholic Senator too and the beloved John F. Kennedy won the race.

It shouldnt matter where you came from or your background or your name for crying out loud its what hes going to do for our country... Who would want someone for president whos husband already ran not to mention committed perjury. Give other people a chance! I think people need to open there eyes & see that is dosnt matter if your black or not or where you come from its what hes going to do for us... stop being so judgemental. An obviously hes doing something right because hes leading in the race right now. The only thing Cinton is going to do is cry when she dont get her way or when she cant handle a stressful situation shes already proved that on national t.v. the only thing she can say is "I was the first to say this or I was the first to say that" its dosnt matter who was the first to say what its whos going actually step up & get stuff done other then getting us into war like bush has. When hes comes to OU I will deff. be there to support him no matter what his name or race is!

Melinda & 'Stupid Hurts', you both sound so illiterate. You need to do some good research and while you are at it go read a book.

Ok, unless you can back up these allegations, don't make them. What is being said about Obama has already been disproven. It is very sad that there are people who still believe this silly notions. If you don't want to vote for someone, then don't vote for them for legitimate reasons not because of something you read in an email that was forwarded to you.

Melinda, Barack can't be the antichrist. His first name has 6 letters, his second name has 7 and his last name only has 5. That doesn't add up to 6-6-6. Ronald Wilson Reagan was another story though.

Melinda, I don't fear Obama. I fear ignorance such as that you are spreading by continuing to pass off lies as the truth. Do some research. You have a fear of anyone different than you. Do you dislike the color of Obama's skin or do you think he just has a "scary and strange name?" Muslims probably think the name "Melinda" sounds strange.

Belief in the Obama muslim myth just reflects on shallowness and inbred bigotry in the writers. All you have to do is read his own books...published long before the right-wing smear machine "discovered" Obama's father was a Muslim and he attended a Muslim elementary school. As soon as his step-dad moved up in his job and he could afford it, he sent the boy to a better non-denominational school.

If another country had troops on our land I think a few of us might get angry too. Extemism began because our troops are stationed in the Middle East which started during the Cold War with the USSR. We have no business being there just as any other country has no business stationing troops in our country. The U.S. planted the seeds of extremism by their actions and are now getting our citizens and troops killed over oil.

The Obama is a Muslim myth has been debunked on numerous occasions by ABC, the Associated Press and CNN. Hussein is like the name John in the Western world. There are many U.S. doctors with the same name and they are not related to Saddam. Obama's biological father was not a practicing Muslim and Obama only saw him once after the age of 2 when his parents divorced. James Warren of the Chicago Tribune cited "the B.S. story about the Muslim school in Indonesia," as "the sort of thing that is going to hit [Obama] and ... that could conceivably stymie him." Warren added that he has "run into folks who have bought into that total, absolute B.S." You have internet access. Educate yourself instead of spreading rumors that have been proven false. Do a Yahoo or Google search for Obama and Muslim and find out the truth. It shall set you free.

Oh, Obama is soooooo scary!!! Obama rhymes with Osama???? Give me a break! Isn't G.W. a Christian, and look where he has gotten us! Maybe he is the Anti-Christ. Yes, stupid does hurt. Unfortunately it hurts those smart enough to know that a person's religon doesn't define the person. I know "christians" that are only holy on Sunday. It is narrow-minded people like he two of you that makes it hard on the rest of us.

Why would some people want a man for our President that has a Muslim family history??? Some people are just plain stupid!

Does anyone else fear Obama?? He really scares me..The more I hear about him the more I think he could be the Antichrist ..Here are some things that are scary to me... 1) His name is Barack Hussein Obama... (Muslim name and Saddam Hussein's name) 2) Obama is really close to Osama...(The most wanted man in the world right now) 3) His dad is Muslim...(From what I have read means that Obama was raised as a Muslim) 4) He was not raised in the United States as a boy..He actually had Muslim teachings abroad 5) He says he will talk with our enemy..(Our enemy wants us dead...They don't talk..they kill) 6) He has such a big group of followers but yet he has no base to go on.. 7) I have to say..he can make a great speech..He should be Speaker of the House..Not President>> 8) I've heard him speak for months now on nothing but hopes and dreams..True..We need that but we need real solutions more..
