GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The family of a woman killed in a collision with two Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers back in 2006 will receive a cash settlement of just over $1 million.

Lori Smith's family had sued the state for wrongful death.

Smith was killed when troopers Joshua Risner and Dale Holcomb collided with her truck after their cruiser hydroplaned and crossed the center line. All three died in the fiery crash.

The final settlement has not yet been filed in court. The two sides have signed a confidentiality agreement.

Yes you are right we need to think of the children!!, but they didn,t have to name a road after the troopers, did they.I think that was not a good thing to do!.And a lot of other people think the same way i do.

Miss Brandy, I have a question for you now. You want me to call a spade a spade, do you? The Smith children from what I understand reported by the media are grown. Their mother was no longer providing for them as these fathers were for their young children. I do agree that her family should've received something and that the state should've paid. However, a million dollars should've been very satisfactory.(for all of you that feel they were treated unfairly) I mean no disrespect for Ms. Smith. I would not do so to any human life lost. However, most of you do with your comments towards the troopers involved. It does go both ways for the families involved. It was an accident and regardless of who is to blame, 3 lives were taken. Who are any of you to pass judgement on why? The children of the troopers need to be thought of in this matter. Not all of you with your greedy and meaningless opinions!

I'm glad to see there are more people than just myself out there who expect the troopers in this accident to be respected. Each of them had children who deserve to grow up knowing their fathers were wonderful men! They also deserve to grow up the way they would've had their fathers lives not been taken so abruptly. So the families of the troopers should've received the benefits most of you disagree with. These two gentlemen were fathers first and troopers second. They spent their time training and schooling to become officers to protect us. For that, their families should receive the benefits for their time served. Maybe he was going too fast...are all of you innocent of NEVER speeding? I highly doubt it! I highly doubt that's the only crime you've ever committed as well ! Once again, he was on the job, maybe we'll never know where they were headed...we also will never know how the woman in the truck reacted either. Speculation is a great way to hide the guilt you may suffer from GREED!
