CHESAPEAKE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The tiny eastern Kanawha County town of Chesapeake was taken over by politics Tuesday.
Former President Bill Clinton spent the day there stumping for his wife, Hillary.
The community center in Chesapeake was packed, wall to wall with supporters. The majority of the crowd was members of senior citizens groups around the county.
Clinton told supporters if they are looking for someone who is going to support seniors, then people need to vote for his wife.
He told them about Hillary's plans to broaden long term health care. He also talked about her plans for health care for all Americans.
Of course the issue of clean-coal technology came up. Clinton says in this day and age we have the ability to use coal and at at the same time-keep our environment safe.
The former President also spent some time talking about the importance of staying focused in office. He says it's easy to get side tracked, but the country needs a President who won't forget the voters. He promised the crowd his wife will remember them, as well as other voters in small, rural counties, if she is elected as the next President.
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) -- President Bill Clinton says his wife won't back down from a fight with U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, no matter how contentious the race becomes.
Speaking to several hundred supporters in Parkersburg today, the former president said politicians who don't want to get beat up, shouldn't run.
He also rejected calls from some members of the Democratic Party who are suggesting his wife Hillary bow out of the race so as not to divide the party.
He says now is not the time, as Hillary Clinton is gaining ground on Obama. He also says discourse can be productive.
Parkersburg is the first of three West Virginia campaign stops for Clinton today. He also stopped in the Kanawha County town of Chesapeake and will appear in Beckley.
His wife visited Charleston and Huntington last week, one day before her rival from Illinois made stops in Charleston and Beckley.

The Clinton Camp has put speakers outside the community center so the people who can't make it inside can at least hear what former President Bill Clinton has to say. We're told dozens are outside waiting in hopes of seeing the former President.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - Hundreds of West Virginians are gathering to see former President Bill Clinton campaign for his wife, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Clinton supporters, many of them holding copies of the former president's autobiography, "My Life," were lined up and beginning to filter into the Parkersburg Elementary Center by midmorning Wednesday.
Parkersburg is the first of three campaign stops for Clinton.
He also is scheduled to visit with seniors at the Gaston Caperton Community Center in the Kanawha County town of Chesapeake and an event in Beckley. All three appearances are open to the public.
Hillary Clinton visited Charleston and Huntington last week, one day before her Democratic rival, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, made stops in Charleston and Beckley.
