History was on the move on Marshall University's campus Wednesday.
The 36 year old Memorial Fountain was returned to its pedestal Wednesday morning. The sculpture was moved and repaired while the pool where it sits was resurfaced with marble.
The $200,000 project was funded by the Marshall University Foundation.
"We repaired the interior of the fountain. That's been all taken care of. We got a new copper tray, the fountain will look like it's floating on water. All the plumbing, pump, wiring and lights and everything on the
fountain," Mark Cutlip from the MU Physical Plant said.
The Memorial Fountain honors the 75 people killed in the 1970 plane crash involving the Marshall University football team.
Water to the sculpture will be turned back on in a special ceremony set for April.
