MAYSVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- When you think of a George Clooney movie premiere, you probably think of Hollywood or another big city, but Clooney passed on tinsel town for his latest movie premiere and headed home to Kentucky to treat fans to his new movie “Leatherheads.”
Maysville, Kentucky is home to the Clooney family and the fans were in full force braving frigid temperatures to welcome their favorite son back to town.
George Clooney debuted his new movie “Leatherheads” Monday night in the same town his Aunt Rosemary Clooney debuted her first film back in 1953. This made George's father very proud.
“Leatherheads” is a comedy about the dawn of the NFL and stars Clooney as an aging football player who doesn't like to play by the rules. Renee Zellweger plays a sports writer who is out for a good story and sparks fly when the two meet.
Zellweger joined Clooney for the premier and was full of praise for her co-star.
“Leatherheads” opens nationwide in theaters on April 4th.
