LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is stepping up its efforts to help local police agencies battle drug traffickers.

This week the patrol released information on where it had encountered the most activity and the numbers held a few surprises.

In Franklin County, the metropolitan Columbus area had the highest number of overall arrests with 186.

Scioto County has the second highest number of arrests with 116. That includes 28 felony arrests and warrants, 36 drug charges and 2 weapons charges.

Lawrence County comes in at number nine on the list with 67 arrests.

Statewide the patrol made more than 800 drug arrests in the first two months of 2008.

OHIO IS LIKE KENTUCKY....WE HAVE TO MANY DEALERS AND NOT ENOUGH COPS....NOT TO MENTION THE PAY FOR THE COPS IS PATHETIC...IF I WERE THEM I WOULD NOT WANT TO PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER FOR A CRACK HEAD....OUT STATES NEED TO WAKE UP AND ADDRESS THE DRUG EPIDEMIC WITH REAL FORCE...HOW CAN A FEW COPS CLEAN UP AN AREA THAT HAS 1000 TIMES MORE DEALERS THAN WE HAVE COPS???? I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY WE CANNOT PUT MORE COPS AND UNDER COVER COPS ON THE STREETS AND MORE DRUG TASK FORCES TO TRY AND GET THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED ONCE AND FOR ALL????? THERE'S MONEY FOR EVERYTHING ELSE BUT WHAT REALLY MATTERS........

I wish the cops would do their job which is to serve and protect and quit harrassing people. It's all about money, they get the drugs and put them back out on the street. They give them to their narcs to use for entrapment, which is by all intents and purposes dead wrong. Then our finest police officers spend money on fuel for helicopters so that they can trap people on U.S. 23 who may be going a little over the speed limit hoping that they will find drugs in peoples cars. Don't they have anything better to do like catching murderers and rapists? Oh, what am I thinking that is much too dangerous; let alone, the right thing to do. When I think about our "system" and the way it only works for someone who knows someone or someone who has enough money to buy their way out of trouble, it makes me want to heave. I don't agree with the use of or the selling of drugs but the situation is blown so far out of proportion that it is not even funny. That's all you hear about on the news get over it!

i agree with sherry, the problem is too far gone, its a big money buisness, supply and demand, arresting the little people and the addicts does not help, the big wheels in detroit and etc. never get touched because the poor man needs the money and the economy here is so bad.when it comes to feeding your family you will do what you have to do..

it does not matter how many police arrest the drugs is out there every where & they realy can't stop it all [if they arrest one some else well take their a day or 2 later always happen] or some one from another state well come in & sell useing W.V lice.
