The Young Democrats Convention in Charleston is a place where young adults are talking about history in the making.

"It's so historic that we are going to have either a woman or an African American as the nominee and i'm so happy to be a part of it," says Megan Price. She's a first time voter- looking forward to the opportunity to have her say.

"This is such a critical time for our country that its even more important and young people around the country are finally getting excited."

The excitement for the Young Democrats kicked off Friday night with a speech from Chelsea Clinton. Things wrap up Sunday.

Christine Pelosi, daughter of U.S House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was scheduled to speak at the keynote dinner but had to cancel because she was sick.

Hey "Old Timer", How about you worry more about living into next week and less about the Young Democrats. VOTE DEMOCRATIC!

Posted by: DJC on Apr 7, 2008 at 04:19 PM
Young people are so easily deceived and so are some of the old Democrats. Why don't we ever see these politicians after the election? It's because they don't care about this area! I agree with Old Timer, once you get out and get a job and see half your paycheck swallowed up in taxes, then find out that money is going to the lazy welfare bums that the Democrats suck up to during election time, then they'll see the light! It's been proven through history, the democrats always raise the taxes in order to provide MORE money to the welfare bums! The poor and middle class that aren't afraid to work will be the ones suffering in the long end! I'm not rich by no means, but I know I get hit everytime a Democrat is put in office! Remember when Bill Clinton ran, young people were excited about him also. He promised when he got in the White House his first priority would be creating jobs for everyone. That never happened! Just ask my brother, he was fooled into voting for him, he also regretted it!

Didnt mean to rustle the feathers on the young ones but the economy changes on a constant basis and I dont believe the old democratic party from WV wants to adapt to the changes. Just my personal opinion. Look at the name of the headline.

It doesn't seem as if Joe is a young democrat. Neither a democratic nor young based on his 47 plus years of being in the state.

Yes Chris, I have lived in Wv for 47 years. How about you? I have been in the WV workforce for 31 years, how about you?

To Joe: Please tell me how the state of WV is still in the 19th century? Also I am one of the young dems that attended this convention and I would love nothing more then for this state to be the benchmark for all other states. But the facts are untill we have a large skilled workforce, we will not be able to bring in large companies with good paying jobs. But what is sad, is you have no idea what is going on.

Young democrats turn into Old Republicans once they find out the true features of the democratic party. When they get out in the real world and start making money they'll realize they are paying taxes because others are unwilling to work and we must foot the bill. Thanks FDR.

Lets make sure these young democrats keep WV in the 19th century.

AS a old democrat it scares me that so many young people are excited about voting because of race or gender and not on their abilities to led the country. I once heard a story about a politician who had died and was met by St.Peter and the Devil and was asked where he wanted to spend eternity and he said,I don't know. So the Devil took him for half a day and they went from bar to bar having a great time. Later that day was spent with St. Peter playing harps and singing. Then he was asked, have you made of your mind and he said, I had a lot of fun with the Devil I'll go with him and so he fell into a firey pit. He asked the devil, what happened to the parties and all my friends and he said yesterday was campaigning and today you VOTED. Be careful who you choose we will have them at least 4 years.
