CLENDENIN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The name has been released of a man who was found dead in the Elk River in Clendenin Tuesday evening.
Police say Jacob Ore’s body was spotted about 30 feet from shore. Ore was reported missing last month.
A missing person sign is still up in the Ore Family Pharmacy store window in Clendenin. A reward was posted for anyone with answers about Jacob Ore's whereabouts.
It was late Tuesday afternoon when the worst case scenario happened. The 21-year-old's body was found floating in the Elk River. Police say they believe Ore had been in the water since he was reported missing on March 18th.
For the last three weeks, police thought they would find Jacob alive after several reported sightings. These sightings were keeping his family and friends hopeful. But, now this hope has turned to sadness.
Police say Ore was on home confinement when he was reported missing. No funeral arrangements have been made just yet.
Clendenin Police say the victim's name was Jacob Ore. He was reported missing on March 18th.
Police believe Ore died from drowning. They believe his death was an accident.
His body was found Tuesday at about 5:15pm in Clendenin.
Firefighters at the scene told dispatchers that it appeared the body had been in the water for some time.
