CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin signed a bill Saturday that will make it easier for people to get immunized.
The bill put into law allows licensed pharmacists to administer immunizations. Manchin says this means it will save West Virginians money and prevent illnesses from spreading.
Right now, the vaccinations are limited to flu and pneumonia. State leaders say they hope to add other vaccines to the list in the future. West Virginia is the 48th state to allow pharmacists to provide immunizations.
It is already allowed in Kentucky and Ohio.
