CINCINNATI (AP) - Kroger Co. wants a share of the tax rebates going out in the next few weeks.
The Cincinnati-based grocery chain is offering gift cards with an extra $30, $60 or $120 added to them if taxpayers exchange their checks for gift cards at a Kroger store.
People should start rebates of up to $600 and $1,200 respectively for individuals and couples with another $300 per child beginning next month.
Kroger says gift card amounts correspond to the payment amounts outlined by the Internal Revenue Service for the stimulus program.
A shopper turning a check into a $600 gift card would get two gift cards totaling $660.
