SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - All-state softball pitcher Kristen Workman of Winfield has been reunited with her teammates in the dugout three weeks after a serious car accident.

The senior made a surprise visit in a wheelchair at Winfield's game Thursday at South Charleston.

Workman suffered a crushed pelvis on March 31 and needed surgery to repair damage to her bladder. She says she still needs surgery to her knee and doctors have told her she should begin walking again in about two weeks.

Workman plans to play softball next spring at Alderson-Broaddus and hopes to start training by the fall.

Workman's father, Greg, also a coach for the Generals, died in an accident at a coal preparation plant March 12, the day the season started.
