Kristen Workman is an all state softball player from Winfield High School. If support is the key to healing, Kristen will walk again soon.
On Sunday friends and neighbors showed their support. Even a rival softball team turned out for a benefit dinner in her honor.
Earlier this month, Kristen collided with a tractor trailer on Route 34. Just a few weeks earlier her dad, an assistant softball coach, died in a mining accident.
In addition to the dinner, volunteers organized a silent auction. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes held a car wash. All the money raised will go to help with Kristen's medical costs.

WHEN I STARTED READING THIS STORY, I COULDN'T HELP BUT CRY MY EYES OUT. IT IS SO AWESOME TO SEE A BUNCH OF KIDS,TEACHERS, PARENTS AND ETC. TO PULL TOGETHER AND HELP THIS YOUNG GIRL AND HER FAMILY. IT JUST SHOWS ME THAT THERE IS STILL GOOD PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD. I DO NOT KNOW THIS FAMILY, BUT I PRAY FOR HER RECOVERY AND I WISH THE FAMILY ALL THE BEST IN THE HEALING PROCESS.

How awesome to see so many people come out and support Kristen and Sharon at W. H. S. yesterday. What was even more amazing was to see the Buffalo High School girl's softball team and coaches there helping out right along with the W. H. S. people. Will Jordan, as far as I'm concerned you all have an A #1 bunch of ball players and coaches there at Buffalo. This Winfield General family applauds you all. Kristen and Sharon you all are still in our prayers!!! Rob, Pam, Melanie Beth and Keri James
