Huntington's Drug Unit made a large bust late Thursday night, and took drugs, cash and weapons off the street.

Police say they raided a 9th Avenue house, and found $40,000 in cash, cocaine, marijuana, rifles and bulletproof vests.

Officers arrested Albert Tillet and Mychal Wright, both of Huntington, and charged them wtih possession with intent to deliver drugs.

The arrests came after an undercover investigation, done with assistance from the Winston-Salem, North Carolina Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Both men are now in the Western Regional Jail, under $50,000 cash bond.

Charleston, didn't you mean to say, "shouldn't you start the next sentence with a capital letter." This, also, was an inquisitive statement and shouldn't it have been punctuated with a question mark? You were right about one thing though, you aren't as smart as spelling guru.

hpd officer, that's the language you use when busting little old ladies for jaywalking too. That's why most cops aren't respected these days.

Posted by: to hpd officer on Apr 27, 2008 at 06:33 PM
That is exactually why you dont get any respect its the attitude thinking you are so much more than anyone else you have to admit hpd has a respect problem with the public and the way they act is it any wonder maybe in the future if the attitudes change the public would consider to do more for them but until they change its not going to happen and i dont know why you would accuse someone of being a wanna be no one wants to be a hpd officer my god crack hoes get more respect

Posted by: HPD Officer on Apr 27, 2008 at 10:36 AM
Dan you seem very intelligent.. Did you take the last test we gave? Surely you did. You were probably first on the list with all your knowledge. Didnt take it? Figures, just another smartass wanna be.

Posted by: stephanie on Apr 27, 2008 at 08:44 AM
You know, people dog the HPD all of the time. I think that Skip Holbrooke and his officers are doin a pretty good job. I think that it is that we get these punks that like doin drugs and would just assume have a shootout as have police do their best with what they got to protect them. Regardless of what you people think HPD is doin the best that they can.

Posted by: Jon on Apr 27, 2008 at 12:41 AM
Lock em up, throw away the key. Maybe they can find some "recreation" with old bubba in the cell...

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 26, 2008 at 11:41 PM
utt the HPD maybe should check out the back room of the 20th st gas station

Posted by: dan on Apr 26, 2008 at 05:10 PM
you have to be REALLY stupid to get busted by HPD.

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 26, 2008 at 04:41 PM
i happen to know that hpd will only make an arrest if it can be state charges makes the jail bill cheaper if you dont think this is true you should look at the jail webb site

this is for the fellow that says he is a store owner I have lived in this area before your place was a store it was a used car lot and the bank well there was a drugstore there since that gasstation has been there the problems started and it has gotten worse over the years now its a big drug palace and a hang out for the ladies of the night.WSAZ DIDNT POST MY FIRST COMMENT I GUESS I WAS BASHING HPD A LITTLE.

Posted by: Rick on Apr 26, 2008 at 07:14 AM
To Spelling Guru: You idiot, no one becomes an addict without choosing to take the drugs to begin with. People are responsible for their actions and choices, and the consequences, including addiction, don't excuse them. So quit taking refuge in the "I'm a victim" mentality. Drugs and drug dealers are evil, wicked, and a cancer on society. Good job, DEA, hope you catch the rest, too.

Frank: I wish someone would chain you to a cage for a couple months so we wouldn't have to hear your garbage.

Posted by: Bev on Apr 26, 2008 at 05:58 AM
To Charleston- Thanks for backing me up. I can't stand people who constantly proofread other post and think they know more than everybody else. By the way I didn't post at 1:07 pm that was another Bev. Just so you know SPELLING GURU ALL drug users are NOT addicts. Ever heard of "recreational users"? Sorry I can't take your post seriously because it is full of holes.

Posted by: Chick on Apr 26, 2008 at 03:39 AM
Kudo's to HPD! Thanks for getting more crack heads off our streets! Keep up the good work!

Posted by: hurting themselves on Apr 25, 2008 at 10:31 PM
to anonymous 4-25 3:20pm....think about what you said! its not hurting anyone but themselves. that is not true. these drug users are hurting their families and their children. So it just isnt them being hurt. think about these young kids who have kids that overdose in front of their young children! is that just hurting them, i dont think so. it doesnt have to hurt somebody physically. Drug abuse has many different affects on people!

Posted by: Lad on Apr 25, 2008 at 09:59 PM
First of all, I am not in any way condoning any selling of drugs, however, I do find it funny that you have people who live in Huntington and that are not running around acting like idiots selling drugs and DEA/HPD, whoever, jump on them and snatch them up but you have the out-of-towners that are running around shooting and killing our citizens and they are still out on the streets. Whats up with that?!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 25, 2008 at 09:34 PM
if people would come together crime & drugs will go down(if we had better laws that would not let them out in 15 min)

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 25, 2008 at 09:11 PM
This is a response to Youncy....When is the last time that we have seen a shooting in Huntington where someone was wearing a bullet proof vest at the time? I am not condoning the drugs but give me a break. What is the difference in some of those in are our area who have a lot of guns in their homes. And we all know that not always are all of those guns are "clean". Just a thought.

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 25, 2008 at 07:45 PM
That's EXACTLY where the tip came from on the weed that was seized before. Hmmm....Sounds like someone got in trouble and needed to save their own butt. ;)

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 25, 2008 at 06:18 PM
NC, hmmm isn't that where the tip came from for the 1 ton of pot seized in the inflatable toys?

Posted by: Rob on Apr 25, 2008 at 04:54 PM
I don't know what that one guy is whinnying about. Marshall students get a free pass here anyway. If patrols were beefed up around Marshall the crime rate would go down.

Posted by: store owner on Apr 25, 2008 at 03:39 PM
Duh resident!!! if they close my store there will be an empty lot for them to sell drugs as well. Why not post your address so they can come stand in front of YOUR house.

Posted by: The money owner on Apr 25, 2008 at 03:26 PM
First of all, that was my 40 thousand, I was just letting my man hold it til I came home from jail.

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 25, 2008 at 03:20 PM
I am so so tired of hearing about this...when will the hpd ever learn that drugs are going to be a never ending problem. If people want to do drugs, let them do it...they aren't hurting anyone but themselves.

Posted by: PlainoleTired on Apr 25, 2008 at 03:18 PM
If the gas station is such a problem then it seems that HPD would know that also. So, if thats the case why is there not a car there at all times. Seems to me that a Police vehicle being posted there should help to deter drug activity and also be located in a central location and able to respond to crimes in that area rather quickly. I will reserve judgement on these two individuals, as our laws suggest we should and wait to hear the results of these of arrests.

Posted by: Mike on Apr 25, 2008 at 03:03 PM
the D.E.A made the arrest H.P.D Donut Gang was just there watching to see how it is suppose to be done. Not that they would ever do any work.Heaven forbid that.

Posted by: B on Apr 25, 2008 at 02:56 PM
IF THEY CLOSED THE GAS STATION ON 20TH THAT WHOULDN'T GET RIDE OF MORE DRUGS IT'LL JUS MOVE IT DOWN THE STREET SOMEWHERE

Posted by: Bev on Apr 25, 2008 at 01:07 PM
charleston, "drug" was purposely not capitalized because it is referring to users. Drug users do not deserve to have their habits to be proclaimed for all to see. Apparently you support them. Well I don't!

Posted by: Resident on Apr 25, 2008 at 12:57 PM
close down the gas station at 20st and 9th ave and you will get rid of alot more drugs...

Posted by: WOW on Apr 25, 2008 at 12:24 PM
WOW NOT IN HUNTINGTON AGAIN!

Posted by: booger on Apr 25, 2008 at 12:07 PM
well. at least HPD did SOMETHING. They probably stumbled upon it while harassing the local college kids.....

Posted by: Youncy on Apr 25, 2008 at 11:03 AM
A good bust for a change. The guns and vests prove they were out to do harm. Not like the majority of arrests for simple possession of pot alone.

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 25, 2008 at 10:43 AM
People the drug problem in huntington is FAR beyond Detroit or Columbus or North Carolina. The Problem is not where the drugs are coming from its whats happening once they get here. HPD makes drug arrest when they are told to. Please do not give them too much credit

Posted by: Frank on Apr 25, 2008 at 10:08 AM
sometimes i just wish people knew what they were talking about, Bev.

Posted by: J on Apr 25, 2008 at 10:02 AM
The correct title is Drug Enforcement ADMINISTRATION not Agency (http://www.usdoj.gov/dea/index.htm)

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 25, 2008 at 09:42 AM
Why is WSAZ taking off postings that are completely accurate? Tillet and Wright did not live at that house. And no where have they reported that the owner of the house was taken into custody also. Losing respect quickly WSAZ....let's get it right.

Posted by: Charleston on Apr 25, 2008 at 09:04 AM
Hey Spelling guru, now I may not be as smart as you, but whenever you end a sentence (like after the word button) should you start the next sentence with a capital letter. Like "Drug" maybe you should proofread before you hit the "submit button". Get a life and stop correcting people.

Posted by: spelling guru on Apr 25, 2008 at 08:28 AM
bev if you want to be taken seriously, proofread your work before you hit the 'submit' button. drug users are addicts, they can't just decide to get off drugs, "hardheaded" doesn't define the problem or the solution.

Posted by: Kathy S on Apr 25, 2008 at 06:44 AM
Whoo-hoo! Gettin' close to election time so we're going to see a LOT of arrests BUT hey, whatever gets them off the street How many magistrates/judges are up for re-election I wonder as well as they Mayor? Depending on THAT, perhaps they'll actually KEEP these jerks in jail at least until the police get a chance to finish their reports!

Posted by: Bev on Apr 25, 2008 at 04:41 AM
Now we have a drug connection to NC??? What happened to Cinn? Did Detroit them off? You know if hardheaded people would STOP buying drugs there would be know reason for them to be here. Get a clue people. Good job HPD.
