COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- There’s a fight brewing in Ohio over where to spend more than $200 million of tobacco settlement money.

Governor Strickland moved $190 million into an economic development program but the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Foundation has sued the state over the money.

Now there's a bill in the Ohio House to shut that program down, take the remaining $40 million in the endowment and give it to the Ohio Department of Health for its own anti-smoking efforts.

The state created the foundation with Ohio's share of a 1998 settlement with tobacco companies.

I agree with the comment previous to mine. Governor Strickland is a thief. I regret having voted for him as my representative. Way to disregard the number one most preventable cause of death in our country. What an idiot.

Gov. Strickland is a complete idiot for doing this. He says the goal is to create jobs, but how many jobs have been lost when he chooses to close the Foundation and all of the programs they fund across the state. The Gov. should be ashamed of himself. I WAS one of his supporters, but I would NEVER support him again. I am very disappointed in his actions. I think he's acting like a spoiled baby that's trying to get revenge because the OTPF Board members did not act like the pawns that he expected them to. Bad move Governor, very bad move! You've shown me and many other that you care more about your big FAT ego than the health and lives of Ohioans. Tobacco is the number one killer in the nation MORON. Where are your priorities? WAKE UP!!
