PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man from South Charleston will spend the next 30 years in prison for robbing a local pharmacy.

A Putnam County judge sentenced Gary Dawson Junior to 30 years for 1st degree robbery.

Sheriff's deputies say Dawson robbed the Poca Valu-Rite Pharmacy back in May 2007. In fact, deputies believe Dawson robbed that same pharmacy twice.

Wasnt there just a person that killed or molested some children recently and got 13 years? How can you sentence someone to 30 years for robbery (with a gun or not) and let someone that hurts children be sentenced for less time? You are just telling criminals that they should hurt or kill people rather then just threaten them. I dont understand that at all. No wonder there are so many people killing these days. You get less punishment!

It wasn't burglary, gee. It was armed robbery...there is a significant difference. Have you been on the other end of an armed robbery at a pharmacy? I have, and it isn't fun. 30 years is too little if you ask me. I feel in this day and age, a pharmacist should be able to pack a gun on his hip, just like the Brink's drivers do.

you don't get 30 years for cold blooded murder. Stiff punishment, but come on 30 years for burglary. Kind of unreasonalbe, don't you think.

he should spend all that time and make a statement to anyone else thinking about doing such a thing. The rest of us have to endure the high costs of meds when this happens.
