CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Some of the brightest students in West Virginia were honored at the Cultural Center Friday.
The state honored 225 students who got the highest scores on the golden horseshoe test.
We're told at least two students from each county received the top honor.
The exam tests eighth-grade students' knowledge of West Virginia history, geography, civics, and economics.
11,000 students took the exam this year. The number increased because this was the first year students could take the test online.
Now that it is available online the state hopes all eighth graders will get to take the exam next year.
