coal trucks are a part of living in this area! most of the time the trucks are not at fault, wrecks are usually the result of someone in a car not paying attention or doing something to cause the truck to react. blaming the truck drivers is probably more than likely coming from someone that is not a very good driver. as far as speeding , you have to be kidding if you are saying trucks are allowed to speed because police are alot stricter on commercial veh. because of the extra fines associated, of course these people probably have more than a couple speeding tickets themselves.

To all the people blaming the truck driver, did you read the story, the car came across the road and hit the coal truck. Not saying that there are times that the truck driver is to blame BUT not EVERYTIME. I wish it was manditory that a person had to ride in a semi/coal truck and see how hard it is to stop and just some of the stupid stunts that people do. My husband drives a coal truck and I have road with him and I have seen first hand how people in cars are with trucks. Its the Grace of God that more people are not killed.

I agree with Denise. There's an unspoken policy that the coal trucks can drive like mad after midnight. Has anyone honestly ever seen a coal truck pulled over for speeding. I know I haven't.

the state police will pull you over for speeding but the coal trucks are aloud to speed. Whats wrong with that picture.

I hate to hear wrecks anymore. Friday there was one in beckley I went outside to go smoke and the trucker was counting his money not paying attention and was going 35 when cars ahead was stopped. He crushed that car in the tail it bumped a jeep the jeep bumped a minivan with three screaming babies and he hit a parked car and lifted it up off the ground and headed towards our store before he could stop. It was the worse thing to ever witness. if he wouldn't have veered off the road he would have killed the old lady that walked out ok because it crushed everything at stopped at where she was sitting 911 asked me to check everyone then there was a fight when she got out I thought she was going to beat up the trucker. It was awful! But everyone involved escaped with minor injuries thank the LORD. Because if it would have been worse I would be nuts right now. I will never get that out of my head.

I ask anyone to drive this road around 2am or 3am, then tell me how careful these coal truck drivers are.

The coal truck drivers are not always at fault. Its the people who have to drive behind this things as they crawl along.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 12, 2008 at 11:34 PM
No its a shame that people don't watch out for the big trucks and think they can beat them but ya know what you can't and they can't stop...Its always the "truckers" fault when they are involed in accidents but ya know I would bet they 90% of the time its the other mans fault. I know when i see a trucker i don't try to beat then cause they are alot bigger than me and i know it will hurt when they hit me. So everyone needs to have some respect for truck drivers.

The woman had apparently passed out or had something wrong with her and she then lost control of her vehicle and crossed over and side swipped the coal truck. The coal truck driver had no where to go off the road and tried to contain complete control this accident was not at the fault of a coal truck.

Looks like near the spot where the pavement is really broken up. They haven't fixed that for many years.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 12, 2008 at 04:56 PM
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO WAS IN THE ACCIDENT

Posted by: Mike on May 12, 2008 at 03:58 PM
Probably trying to get around the slip in the road. Driving along 55 mph then the road drops 8". One of the politicians need to get it fixed and have their picture made with it.
