HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child learned his fate Monday.

James Carr was sentenced to four terms of one to five years.

The sentences will run consecutively, and Carr will get credit for time served.

Before the sentence: Carr had a request for the judge.

“I don’t’ want out judge. I’m telling you straight up, don't let me out,” Carr said.

Carr is 59 years old, and will be in the South Central Regional Jail until he can be transferred.

I too was abused by an older man when I was 10 years old. I didnt' tell a soul until I was in counseling at the age of 32. When this man did this to me I was terrified, I was too scared to tell my mom and dad because I thought that they would think I was dirty and the one having dirty thoughts. I thought that I would be in trouble. After all this was an adult - wasn't I supposed to do what an adult wanted. This man took away my innocence....even though no intercourse took place what he did was wrong. People don't understand the fear. I was so scared of being thought of as ruined and dirty. Put all these freaks behind bars and throw away the keys. Lets protect our children!

Who is protecting our kids from someone like this? Do you know he lives less than one mile from a school in carter county, and is getting advice from a local preacher who says he is an innocett man and is helping him so when he gets out he can still live there! I get a warm fuzzy feeling Knowing A Preacher is helping a sicko like this!

I struggle with this every day of my life. All victims will. There is no getting over it. The man that took my childhood dreams away from me was 38 years old, I didn't tell anyone until I was 30 and by then he had died in a house fire along with his wife and teen son, I thought everyone would think it was my fault. This is the power that a sex offender has over little children. There is no rehab for them, they will do it again. They should be in solitary confinement for the rest of their lives or else they will find other ways in prison to satisfy their sick minds. Who knows they might even enjoy the abuse in prison. Lock them up and throw away the key!!!!!!!!

There is not enough time in the world that will ever heal this child,I am speaking from experience,It happened to my daughter and he got a measly 30 days, because there was not enough evidence according to the jurors,I hope and pray that i will be on a jury for a child molester or predator,My heart goes out for this child and their parents.Love this child and keep telling it that it is not their fault.hope he gets the maxium!

Abusers and rapists never get enough time, at least not in this area! In Ky. I know of one guy who has repeatedly pled guilty to abusing younger and younger kids and because he says "guilty, sorry" he is doing it over and over because the judges dont care about the victims... The public says they care but when it is a man or woman they know they say it is the kids fault. It is so rare that kids come forward, and then when they do they go through torment quite often, only to see these monsters get away with either a pat on the back and a go do it again or a little slap on the wrist. Abuse destroys lives!!! These people at most should get one chance at rehabilitation and if that don't work, they should be executed. The cycle of abuse will not stop until the abusers are eradicated!

It's been proven several times over that people like these sexual predators have a high rate of recidivism, meaning they are likely to repeat their crimes if they are let out of jail. Personally, I think these people are garbage, and they should be executed. There's no greater crime than to hurt another human being and steal their innocence from them.

The article says he was sentenced to FOUR terms of one to five years. I believe that means he is looking at 4 - 20 years. And in my opinion, he should stay the whole twenty!

if hes telling the judge not to let him out, then the guy is either messed up and admitting it or someone is going to woop up on him when hes out. keep his hiney in there

He needs to be cooked and not given 1-5 Years. FRY HIM. The way he talking he will do it again. Fry Him

Posted by: my opinion on May 13, 2008 at 07:06 AM
Thats ok he got 1-5 because the inmates may be murders, drug dealers, etc but the one thing they cannot stand is a baby raper. He will get his just dues when he meets his God almighty. But for right now he will have to deal with the inmates!!!

Posted by: Just Me on May 13, 2008 at 05:14 AM
Sounds to me like he is afraid of what he would do if he were let out. Do we really need people like this on the streets, hunting our children, anyway?

Posted by: Rick on May 13, 2008 at 04:38 AM
Why did he only get one to five years? This is outrageous!! He should have gotten a sentence that would have required him to serve at least 20 years before possibility of parole. What was the judge thinking?

I would say that the reason this guy dosent want out of jail is becouse someone is probley waiting for him.
