HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Someone tried to steal a heating and air conditioning unit from a business in the 2800 block of Park Avenue. Huntington Police think the thief was after copper.

They said there was severe damage to the unit and the copper lines were cut.

The unit was beyond repair.

Two laptop computers were taken from an unlocked residence May 13th. Huntington Police say two people in the 1800 block of 6th Avenue told them that a HP Pavillion and an Apple iBook were stolen. Police said the residence was unlocked because of the condition of the locks and door.

When the crime was reported the front and the back door were found open.

It is sad to hear about break ins. My home was recently robbed and the doors and windows were locked. They sacaled an 8 ft wall to open a back window. But they cowards had to steal from my children. Is is sad that children have to loose items to thiefs. Istead why dont these thiefs just get a job like everybody else and struggle like everybody else. I hate thiefs.

I agree with Kathy 100 percent. I'm also a menopausal woman with a handgun and i'm not afraid to use it. I work hard for the things I have and I can make one promise to the thieves around me, you try and steal from me I won't let u walk away with a limp I will be calling the coroner to come take u away. We have had several security companies call my house wanting us to buy one and like my husband told them we have a 140 dog and a wife with a handgun no need for security system here. Don't u think it would just be easier to get a job, oh sorry that would get into your stealing and drug abuse time. I thank the HPD for getting the druggies off the street but these little thieves need to be caught too and without money to buy drugs then the druggies will have to go somewhere else to sell.

Thank You Huntington Police Officers for all you do. You risk your lives everyday for ours, you kiss your children and wifes goodbye not knowing if it will be the last time they see you. I have the upmost respect for you all. And pray for your safety. The public could also help themselves by locking up there things and not leaving stuff in the open in there cars. Thiefs are smarter than we are. We have to stay one step ahead of them, but, when do we have the time we work. !!! Police Officers do not like donuts like the old stereotype says. God Bless our police officers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My car just got broken into a 3:30am, and so did my next door neighbors. We live on East Pea Ridge off of Division. Things got stolen. We've lived here awhile and felt safe here, but not anymore.

Why doesent the crooks steal the heat and air units from the H.P.D? The H.P.D Donut Gang is never there. However if they try to steal anything fron the Local Donut Shop they are as good as caught. H.P.D is the Laughing Stock of the Law Enforcement Community.LOL. LOL.....

Oh people, in this day & age, you'd better get those doors and locks replaced ASAP You're making it was too easy for the thieves and God knows what else or who else to come in. I guess the copper mkt must still be booming & they've run out of cars and power lines so now it's the A/C All I can say is if they try to steal ours, they'd better say their prayers 'cause we live in a county where as the old military saying goes, "shoot 'em first & let God sort 'em out"! Won't shoot to kill them but WILL keep them from carrying off our stuff until the State police or Sheriff gets here. If you do the crime people, you'd better learn how to pick buckshot out of your backside or else get a job instead of stealing other peoples stuff. I get VERY upset when my A/C's not working so that's not a GOOD thing to steal from me thieves so beware a menopausal woman with a handgun (or shotgun lol)
