HUNTINGTON, W.Va (WSAZ) -- A 65-year-old Huntington man has been rescued after being trapped under a 600 pound lawn mower.

Emergency crews were called to a wooded area off Parkland Drive just outside the Huntington city limits shortly before noon Wednesday.

Firefighters say the man and mower had gone over a hill into a wooded area. We’re told this was the first time he had used the industrial riding mower.

Firefighters used a winch on one the trucks to get the mower off.

The man was taken to a local hospital. No word on his condition.

In a press release, Cabell 911 says dispatchers used the newly installed “Automatic Vehicle Locator” program to guide responders to the man’s home.

They then used the center’s “Wireless Phase II” technology to establish his exact location based on his cell phone call to 911.

you all need lives if you have nothing better to do than go to on wsaz and look for spelling errors. Its no wonder most West Virginians are on welfare...they could be telemarketers but its more fun to get on here and show off their 9th grade education. Pray for this man, do something good with your sloth

Why does it matter? It is still pronounced the same way!

Unbelievable! Two news sources, two differently written stories and the SAME ERROR! (The Herald-Disgrace had the same error) SHAME on you! It is a WINCH. A WENCH is a busty old hag who serves beer in English Pubs you MORONS.

So, I guess that when your mother-in-law sets around the house, she sets AROUND the house.

You are right. A "wench" is a woman not a winch which is a device for moving heavy objects. My mother in law fell on me once. I thought I would need a winch to get that wench off of me. I think she weighed more than 600 lbs. ;)

Hopefully the man is okay. He didn't look too torn up. Material possesions can be replaced but a precious life cannot be.

Was this a story or are you showcasing the fact that the 911 dispatchers have GPS capabilities? Just wondering. By the way the word "wench" in the story is spelled "winch" I believe.
