HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ)--Another drug bust in Huntington puts five people behind bars, and police say they found more than just drugs.

Police also say the public really helped them out with this bust.

Huntington's Violent Crimes Drug Task Force raided 808 5th street Wednesday afternoon.

Police say they found large amounts of crack cocaine, firearms and cash. Police were tipped off by neighbors complaining about increased drug activity.

One lady we spoke with didn't want us to show her face, but she's one of many who live in the area who alerted police. She praises Chief Skip Holbrook's efforts.

“It's scary and exciting to see them cracking down. I give Skip Holbrook a thumbs up for getting them out.”

Several hours later, police led the suspects into magistrate for their arraignment, but none of them wanted to talk.

They are identified as Vernal Wilburn from Cleveland, Saderrick Hillman from Atlanta, Karlenna Chapman, Judy Hopkins and Daniel Leggette also known on the streets as Boo Bam. Those three are from Huntington.

Only one of the five not charged with drug possession is Saderrick Hillman, he's charged with obstructing an officer.

The fewer drug dealers in Huntington, the better. Way to go HPD. Keep these thugs and animals off the street, and send them up the creek without a paddle. Huntington should consider how Singapore deals with drug traffickers. If you're caught the first time, it's a capital offense-no plea bargains, no technicalities,etc., just a one way ticket to the bone orchard.

I am glad that the task force and other officers are cracking down. I work for a facility that helps people who are addicted to drugs and other substance and if we can get the cops and other people to help that could mean one less person addicted. And that is our goal to help people over come these issues because whether people believe it or not this is an illness and it is very hard to overcome it. so lets all stick together and reach out b/c one day they will thank you for it

Thank You HPD,i hope they get all of the drug houses.Down South in Florida I have seen on the new if the Crack-Heads do not open the door they have a bull dozer,this way they eliminate two things at one time.Because you cannot make home home out of Nasty Crack Dens.Do like the South and keep up the job!!!!

THANKS HPD once again YOU guys are doing YOUR job so THANK YOU I just wish the magistrates/judges would put them in jail and KEEP them there like all criminals SHOULD be. More than likely they'll be back out before you officers get back to your HQ like always Police risk their lives & do THEIR jobs going after these thugs, druggies, thieves, murderers, rapists & every other low-life AND they do in on inadequate manpower, funding, equipment etc only to have our "judicial" system & laws let these people back out on the streets among us all yet again. People are sick & tired of it, but no body listens. They continue to let them all out, IF they put them in jail at all. They let them out early IF they do time at all 'cause jails are "overcrowded". So what? They're supposed to be in JAIL, not in a country club hotel so overcrowd them OR spend wasted elsewhere $$$$ to BUILD new jails! Thanks again HPD! Once again, you all have done YOUR job! I think what Skip Holbrook is doing in Huntington is wonderful. Finally a police cheif that is gettting something done, it's about time. I've lived in this town my entire life and no police chief that we have ever had has dones as much as him GOOD JOB SKIP!!!! And just to let anyone know who cares, I am not on any campaign committe or anything of that nature, it's just nice to know there is finally someone in office who is trying to get the job done!!

What a sorry city. I hope HPD cleans them out. No sympathy, no whiny liberal bull $%&&, just clean them out. If they want to whip out the guns and play gangsta, let the SWAT teams do their job, cheaper for the hard working tax payer...
