CANNONSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A Boyd County school bus has been involved in an accident with a deer.

Dispatchers say it happened at about 7am Friday along old Route 60 near the Cannonsburg exit of I-64.

Richard Cyrus with Boyd County Schools says the deer hit the side of the bus breaking out 3 windows.

14 students were taken to 2 local hospitals with minor cuts from the broken glass. All have now been treated and released.

18 other students on the bus were not hurt.

Cyrus says the students were heading to three schools: Boyd County High, Boyd Middle, and Ponderosa Elementary.

A deer jumps into the side of the bus and it the drivers fault how? Should he have went faster or maybe stopped and allowed the deer to cross. To many people playing the blame game and not worrying about thier children!

I was on this bus this morning and yes, this was very scary for me. my friend was in front of me on the bus and she got a sprained ankle and got some scars. also my sister got a shard of glass in her eye. (so yes there was several kids that got glass in their eyes)But she is ok now though. Around time for school to let out, my friend called me and was freakin' out wondering if I was ok. lol But I informed her I was fine and so was my sister.

. I know a few of the kids on this bus and the bus driver I glad that they were not hurt more than they were,it could have been much worse, the deers are running out of the woods due to the construction on the interstate and the land field they are being chased out and they have no were to go but in the road, I have seen over 5 deers hit and killed in the last month in this area. Praise GOD that he protected them.

I am a student at BCHS and was at the doctor when I heard about it.I was relieved when I found out it was not my bus even though I was not on it. I am glad my fellow students involved are okay and the other students as well. I am curious as to how a deer got up into the air that high...

I know how dangerous the deer are I hit one myself coming down of our driveway and boy did it really hit the car hard.Thank goodness the kids were not badley hurt .The bus driver must be very lucky to be able to keep the bus under control. They can really tear up a vehecle.Thank God for a bus driver caring for his kids.

well my kids used to ride the bus in the morning till we noticed the bus driver going fast through country roads .i started taking them in the morning for this reason .i think the bus drivers need to be more carefull in the mornings they know that deer are everywhere over here .and also they need to watch the speed they are going as well

Hope the children and driver are all okay!I am sure that was a scary thing, lets hope people do not start saying it was the drivers fault!
