Ditch the jailing parents part and I'll back Pablo's solution. The victim should get an AK47 and learn to use it; a 9mm pistol and a Blue Heeler dog are needed too!

I think that it is stupid on how everyone is complaining about how everyones worried about the dog well just to let everyone know the dog was like a BEST friend to me and the whole family it was like as if she was a part of the family, and she was.it was as if u lost i kid or a sibling or a loved one which we did, we lost a very loved and pertective dog that will be greatly missed and remembered every single day!!!

To HERMAN.. I said I'd shoot if they were there to harm me or my family. I don't have twinkies so that really wouldn't be a problem here. I think you need to go eat you've got food on your mind too much, you've prolly been robbed while you've had your face in your twinkie box. I honestly don't care if they're 15 or 85, if you're going to try and hurt me, I'll hurt you. And to Anita, Thank you! I'd do anything to protect my family and I'm glad there are others who would do the same.

HERMAN: We have a law in WV called the castle domain law?...something like that. It says we can defend our homes and ourselves if we feel threatened with as much force as WE think is needed. MAMA: I'm sorry they had to be put through this horrible ordeal. I am however glad that they are ok physically. It seems that there isn't a neighborhood in the Tri-State area that is safe anymore. I am now willing to allow a gun into my home, which is something I fought against for years. We are not safe without one. So, be forewarned I too will shoot anyone I do not know who barges into my home. God bless your loved ones MAMA.

It is a terrible crime to shoot a dog, but come on it is a dog. What about the woman that got robbed. It is like you people care more about a dog. You can always buy a new dog.

Posted by: Herman on May 19, 2008 at 04:10 PM
If they are going to harm you (weapon in hand, etc.) your are in your right to shoot. If it is a juvenile unarmed just trying to steal twinkies and you shoot you go to jail. some call it murder. no self-defense if the person isn´t trying to attack you. Good luck with the home protectin´ and trigger happiness. I´m sure you will do your family proud.

Hey wsaz where was the true comment on this page i emailed about a few days ago and was never put in. Affraid the truth will stir up problems cause I don't put my opionon in there after all my parents did fight for our freedoms.

Posted by: Anita on May 19, 2008 at 07:00 AM
uhmm, BRAVO! I agree with you so much. There is far too much crime around here. I have not always felt this way. I used to believe in letting the Police handle it first. Now I will defend myself and my family because if we are broken into we will be First on the scene and not the Police. I will call 911 and do what is right by my children at the same time. I am angry about all the unsolved crimes. My neighborhood has been plaqued with so many robberies. To Herman: If someone came into your home would you just let them do what ever they wanted to you or your family? Crackerjacks? Could you be any more lame? You have no idea what an intruder plans to do. They do not always just rob you and leave. Sometimes they have sick & twisted things they want to do to you & your family before leaving. You surely know bullies return again and again to people they CAN bully. It's the same thing with thieves. Herman you and your kind SUCK!

Posted by: uhmm, to Herman on May 18, 2008 at 04:28 PM
I don't have crackerjacks but you sound like one. I would defend my home. Let someone come in my home without permission and see what happens. Especially acting like a punk or you're going to hurt my family especially my child. I wouldn't think twice about putting a bullet in someone. What does your family mean to you there Herman the Crackjack?

Things like this are why I moved from Westmoreland. I have 2 little dogs that were in my locked, fenced yard and someone threw rotten meat in it for them. Cost me $500. to have them treated at the ER in CK. Then an idiot behind me robbed the Fruth with a weapon. I wondered why he ran through the yard next door so early in the morning. Detectives came to my door a bit later and told me what happened and asked what I had seen. Too scary for me

Posted by: Sorry about your dog. on May 18, 2008 at 09:52 AM
Did the dog die? This makes me sick. I feel so sorry for this lady, I am sure she loved her dog. This story makes me want to hug my dog. Anyone who hurts children or animals, is straight up TRASH.

Posted by: Herman on May 17, 2008 at 09:00 PM
uhmm, it would cost you a lot of jail time. Defend your boxes of crackerjacks at all costs...

Posted by: Pablo on May 17, 2008 at 04:03 PM
Ouch! Of course I'm concerned about the woman. I'm concerned about global warming, peace in the middle east, and world hunger. The story made it clear it was robbery. I know that. What I didn't know from the story was the condition of the dog. So, now you know. I care about the woman. I care about the woman's dog. And Bob, I couldn't agree with you more. Everyone should have a handgun, and know how to use it. Our government isn't looking out for us, they are more concerned with these juvenile thugs (notice they won't print their names?). Take the juvenile robbers outside, put bullets in their heads, and then give their parents 10 to 20 years in prison for not raising their children to respect the law. Do this for all such cases, and I bet crime will drop nearly to zero.

5400 altizer ave is river bend trailer park and it is getting dangerous to live here. another resident came into my house and stole a friends wallet. also property was stolen from the back of my truck.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 17, 2008 at 03:52 PM
omg how would the dog be involved tell us..i am so sad to hear this i know what it is like to lose a pet watch and see the system won't do a dang thing to these kids just slap them on the wrist and let them go.we have to take the law into our own hands now-a-days

Posted by: DDCJ on May 17, 2008 at 03:26 PM
It doesn't say how old the "juveniles" are..but I pray they are tried as adults and given the maximum sentence possible. I am so sorry about the dog also.

Posted by: uhmm on May 17, 2008 at 01:45 PM
Let anyone come in my house without my permission, and I won't think twice to shoot them. This is my house not yours and I will defend it at all costs.

Posted by: Brett on May 17, 2008 at 09:53 AM
I'm sure that dog was like one of the family to that woman. In my home my dogs are like my children. Awful, awful crime.

Posted by: Beth Ann on May 17, 2008 at 09:13 AM
That is just sad. I also think they should be treated as adults, since they had a gun and shot the dog. What is happening to this world. I am glad the lady didnt get shot. I hope the dog is going to be ok.

Posted by: Mama on May 17, 2008 at 07:11 AM
This is my stepdaughter. She is absolutely terrified to be in her own home now and is planning to move. Sadly, the dog was killed. Even more scary is that my two young grandsons were sleeping just down the hall from where this happened as well as my teenaged stepdaughter!! No one wants to know my thoughts on what should happen to these boys!! Please keep this young family in your prayers.

Posted by: Jameson on May 17, 2008 at 01:35 AM
I think the dog was somehow involved. Call it a hunch...

Posted by: Chick on May 17, 2008 at 12:38 AM
Treat them as adults.. they want to act like little "BIG" boys then treat them that way. Little thug wanna be's. You're real cool to shoot a dog, I hope the next one bites your leg off!

Posted by: anonymous on May 16, 2008 at 10:42 PM
Must not have been to bad of a crime. The Robert Shell juvenile center is not a jail for juvies. Hmmm, let me think. Maybe probation, or60 day evaluation then improvement period. Group home, certainly not prison.....

Posted by: Ann on May 16, 2008 at 09:11 PM
Until our justice system takes the crimes of juveniles more seriously and tries these individuals as adults, we will continue to see an increase in criminal activity among this age group. As for the cruelty exhibited toward the dog, the same thing goes...when society begins to view animal cruelty as a severe crime, this type of behavior will only worsen.

Put these kids in jail. Did the dog die????

Posted by: alan on May 16, 2008 at 06:53 PM
Is this not terroism.

Posted by: Bob on May 16, 2008 at 06:52 PM
Pablo, Didn't you read the entire story? They didn't just shoot a dog, they committed armed robbery and burglary using a gun. Just another incident demonstrating the growing crime problem in this city. Every honest, law abiding citizen in this city needs to buy a handgun and then we can start leveling the playing field.

Posted by: Judy on May 16, 2008 at 06:29 PM
I agree that i would like to have more info on this story, there is so much crime now in Huntington that residents need to know what is going on to protect themselves.

Posted by: Angry on May 16, 2008 at 04:45 PM
This little idiots should have to pay dearly for this! This poor lady was not only victimized by being robbed but they shoot her dog! What kind of people are these kids? Hey got an idea kids get jobs!

Posted by: steve on May 16, 2008 at 04:01 PM
they ever get brave enough to try that crazy stuff here, just remember theres a gun or two that lives here.

Posted by: appalled on May 16, 2008 at 03:51 PM
Hey Pablo ... they do a great job so don't be so negative. Show some conern about the woman that was robbed too.

Posted by: anon on May 16, 2008 at 03:18 PM
how is the dog?

Posted by: Mike on May 16, 2008 at 03:05 PM
Good thing she called the State Police instead of the H.P.D Donut Gang.

Posted by: me on May 16, 2008 at 01:41 PM
i live in the 5400 block of altizer ave and i wonder if these 2 are responsible for the theft of my 2 motorcycles.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 16, 2008 at 01:36 PM
This is awful..Where are the parents?

Posted by: Debbie on May 16, 2008 at 01:29 PM
charge them as adults, they gotta learn somehow. No excuses, if they are willing to go in armed to someone's home it's just a matter of time before they kill someone. I hope the dog is OK.

Posted by: Pablo on May 16, 2008 at 11:55 AM
I should think WSAZ could produce a better report than this. I mean, the dog was shot. Was it wounded or killed?

Posted by: willa on May 16, 2008 at 11:51 AM
This sounds like the devil. I hope they stay locked up for a very very long time.
