FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Senate President David Williams has filed a lawsuit against Gov. Steve Beshear claiming his veto of $3.8 billion worth of road projects was improper.

Williams claims in the lawsuit filed Friday that the veto was issued too late to be effective. Williams also is asking a judge to rule on whether Beshear has authority to spend state road money not specifically appropriated by lawmakers.

Beshear vetoed a two-year transportation spending bill last month. He said the legislation would have hampered his administration's ability to adequately manage road projects in the state.

Beshear said his administration would follow an alternate transportation spending plan that would be compiled within the coming months.

Beshear spokesman Dick Brown says the administration has not yet received a copy of the lawsuit and had not had a chance to review it.

It is about time someone stood up to Beshear. In his short time as GOV he has done all he can do to ruin KY. He wants to destroy our post secondary education. I hope he loses! Beshear, you make Fletcher look like a great Governor.
