MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Embattled West Virginia University
president Mike Garrison is taking a backseat at commencement
ceremonies.

WVU spokeswoman Amy Neil said today that Garrison canceled plans
to deliver an address but will still attend many of the weekend's
ceremonies.

It's the latest sign of growing tensions at the school amid a
degree scandal involving the governor's daughter.

Faculty have assembled twice in the last two weeks to call for
Garrison to resign over the awarding of an executive master's of
business administration degree to Heather Bresch that she didn't
earn.

Garrison says he doesn't want to be a distraction at graduation.
He says graduation is about the students and the faculty, and not
him.

Why isn't anyone asking why Ms. Heather Bresch hasn't been required to surrender her unearned degree. She isn't a victim. She knew she had not earned it. It cheapens those degrees earned honestly by others.

It is time for federal authorities to get involved in this. The investigation needs to start at the State Capitol and then up north to the campus of WVU. What a shame that the governor and WVU President have now required this type of action. STOP sending money to this school - DO NOT ALLOW you children to attend. I am one sorry graduate of this pastime "flagship" university.

I would like someone to explain to me exactly what the president did wrong? What was his involvement in Bresch getting a degree she didn't earn? I've looked at old news reports and I can't find what I'm looking for.

WHY CAN'T THIS MAN BE FIRED! Can the University not tell him he MUST leave? And the root cause of this man being in the position he is in...Manchin. Need I say more
