LOUISA, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The Louisa, Kentucky, Police chief and another officer are resigning from the force as part of a plea deal, according to court officials.
Chief Kevin Adkins and Officer Barry Bellomy faced first and second degree misconduct charges after being indicted by a Lawrence County, KY, Grand Jury in March.
During a court hearing Wednesday, both Adkins and Bellomy agreed to resign by June 30 in exchange for the charges against them dropped.
According to the original indictment, Bellomy was charged with ignoring a police call while he was at the home of a former reporter for the Big Sandy News.
Bellomy and the chief were also accused of harassing former Big Sandy News reporter, Roberta Blevins.
Blevins told NewsChannel 3 that both men were trying to harass her to get tape recordings she had relating to an investigating of the two officers.
Both men originally pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges.
