Legionnaire's Disease Kills One, Hospitalizes Two
Three people in Kanawha County have contracted legionnaire's disease within the past few weeks.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Three people in Kanawha County have contracted Legionnaire's Disease within the past few weeks.

One patient died, and two others are still in the hospital. Health department officials have started an investigation to see if they have any exposures in common.

Two of the cases, including the death, were in eastern Kanawha County, the other in South Charleston.

The bacteria that causes Legionnaire's Disease grows in steam from hot tubs, cooling towers, showerheads and large air-conditioning units.
symptoms include high fever, muscle aches, severe headaches and cough.
